ELECTION OF MEMBER TO THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS
I hereby give public notice of the result of the casual election,
held on Tuesday, the 14th day of July 1959, to fill one casual
vacancy on the Board of Governors of Canterbury Agri-
cultural College, as follows:
One member to be elected by the teaching staff of the
College:

Total number of valid votes .... .... 26
I hereby declare Alexander Ernest Henderson to be duly
elected to the Board of Governors to hold office subject to
the provisions of the Canterbury Agricultural College Act
1930, its amendments and electoral bylaws.

APPLICATION FOR A LICENCE FOR A WATER RACE
NOTICE is hereby given that, by Application No. 37 of 1959,
the Cromwell Borough Council will apply to the Warden’s
Court at Cromwell on the 2nd day of September 1959 for a
licence for a water race authorising the diversion of four
heads of water from Firewood Creek, Wakefield S.D., being
the present borough water supply passing through the lands
of Middleton Bros. and M. Spain to terminate at the borough
boundary.
Objections must be filed in the Registrar’s Office, Cromwell,
and notified to applicant at least three days before the date of
hearing.

PAEROA BOROUGH COUNCIL
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE
PURSUANT to the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, the
Paeroa Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:
“That, for the purpose of providing the annual charges
on a loan of eight thousand six hundred and fifty pounds
(£8,650) authorised to be raised by the Paeroa Borough
Council under the above-mentioned Act for the completion
of the Waitawheta Water Supply Scheme, the said Paeroa
Borough Council hereby makes a special rate of one third of
a penny (⅓d.) upon the rateable unimproved value of all
rateable property of the Borough of Paeroa; and that the
special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the
currency of the loan and be payable yearly in each and every
year during the currency of the loan, being a period of
25 years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”
I hereby certify the foregoing to be a true extract from
the minutes of a meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council
held on the 9th day of July 1959.

RODNEY COUNTY COUNCIL
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE
PURSUANT to the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, the
Rodney County Council hereby resolves as follows:
“That, for the purpose of providing the annual charges
on a loan of £4,485 authorised to be raised by the Rodney
County Council under the above-mentioned Act for the
purpose of refunding to its County Fund Account moneys
advanced for the purchase and erection of workers houses,
the said Rodney County Council hereby makes and levies
a special rate of decimal 05898 pence in the pound upon
the rateable value (on the basis of unimproved value) of
all rateable property in the County of Rodney; and that the
special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the
currency of the loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day
of August in each and every year during the currency of the
loan, being a period of 20 years, or until the loan is fully
paid off.”
The above resolution was passed at a meeting of the
Rodney County Council held on the 16th day of July 1959.

ASHBURTON COUNTY COUNCIL
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE
Montalto Water Supply Loan 1959, £23,900
PURSUANT to the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, the Ash-
burton County Council hereby resolves as follows:
“That, for the purposes of providing the annual charges on
a loan of £23,900 authorised to be raised by the Ashburton
County Council under the above-mentioned Act for the pur-
pose of the installation of a water supply system in the
Montalto Water Race District, the said Ashburton County
Council hereby makes a special rate of 6·515 pence in the
pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the capital
value) of all rateable property of the Montalto special rating
area comprising the Montalto Water Race District; and that
the special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the
currency of the loan and be payable yearly on the 8th day of
August in each and every year during the currency of the
loan, being a period of five years, or until the loan is fully
paid off.”

COUNTY OF STRATFORD
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATES
Makuri Drainage Loan 1959
PURSUANT to the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, the
Stratford County Council hereby resolves as follows:
“That, for the purpose of providing the annual charges on
a loan of £9,000 authorised to be raised by the Stratford
County Council under the above-mentioned Act for the pur-
pose of meeting the Council’s share of the cost of the
drainage of the Makuri Stream and tributary streams, the said
Stratford County Council hereby makes and levies the follow-
ing classified rates:
“(1) A special rate of one shilling and two and three-
eighth pence in the pound on Class A land, five and five-
sixteenth pence in the pound on Class B land, and twenty-five
thirty-seconds pence in the pound on Class C land, on the
basis of the rateable unimproved values of all rateable pro-
perties of the various classifications A, B, and C.
“(2) The special rates shall be annually recurring rates
during the currency of the loan and be payable on the 12th
day of August in each and every year during the period equal
to the currency of the loan, being a period of 15 years, or
until the loan is fully paid off.”
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct
copy of a resolution passed by the Stratford County Council
at a meeting held 17 July 1959.

GISBORNE HARBOUR BOARD
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE
PURSUANT to the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, the Gis-
borne Harbour Board hereby resolves as follows:
“That, pursuant to the provisions of the Gisborne Harbour
Board Empowering Act 1956 and the Gisborne Harbour
Board Empowering Act 1958, for the purpose of providing the
annual charges on a loan of sixty thousand pounds authorised
to be raised by the Gisborne Harbour Board under the above-
mentioned Acts for reconstructing the sea wall and No. 6
Wharf and purchasing a tug and pilot vessel, the said Gisborne
Harbour Board hereby makes a special rate of nine one-
hundredths of one penny in the pound on the rateable capital
value of all rateable property of the Gisborne Harbour Dis-
trict, as defined by the Gisborne Harbour Board Empowering
Act 1952, and that the special rate shall be an annual-recurring
rate during the currency of the loan and shall be payable
yearly on the 1st day of April in each and every year during
the currency of the loan, being a period of six years, or until
the loan is fully paid off.”
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was passed by
the Gisborne Harbour Board at a meeting held at the Board’s
office, Read’s Quay, Gisborne, on the 20th day of July 1959.
