Closely Populated Locality Declared

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. That Warrant under regulation 27 of the Traffic Regulations 1956,* dated the 3rd day of September 1958†, and that Warrant under section 36 of the Transport Act 1949, dated the 30th day of July 1958‡, which relate to an area in Waimairi County adjacent to Christchurch City are hereby revoked.

  2. Those areas specified in the Schedule to this notice are hereby declared to be closely populated localities for the purposes of section 36 of the Transport Act 1949.

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Waimairi County adjacent to Christchurch City—

  1. Fovant Street, Boons Road, Cutts Road, Dinton Street.

  2. All that area adjacent to Christchurch City and bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the western boundary of Christchurch City with the south-western boundary of Waimairi County and proceeding northerly and north-westerly along the boundary of Waimairi County to a point in line with the north-western side of Racecourse Road; thence north-easterly on the production of that north-western side across the Christchurch-Kumara Junction State Highway No. 57 to the north-eastern side of the said State highway; thence north-westerly along that roadside to the north-western side of Withells Road; thence north-easterly along that roadside and its production across Avonhead Road to the north-eastern side of Avonhead Road; thence along a right line to the intersection of the north-western side of Grahams Road with south-western side of the Harewood Aerodrome Main Highway No. 200; thence along a right line to the intersection of the north-eastern side of Wairakei Road with the north-western side of Breens Road; thence north-easterly along the north-western side of Breens Road and its production across the Papanui-Harewood Main Highway No. 609 to the north-eastern side of the said main highway; thence south-easterly along that roadside to the north-western side of Bishops Road; thence along a right line to the intersection of the north-eastern side of Sawyers Arms Road with the northern side of Veitch Road; thence along a right line to the intersection of the north-eastern side of Claridges Road with the north-western side of Grampian Road; thence north-easterly and easterly along the last-mentioned roadside to its intersection with the western side of Cavendish Road; thence northerly along that roadside to a point in line with the northern side of Barnes Road; thence across Cavendish Road and along the northern side of Barnes Road to its intersection with the western side of the Picton-Christchurch State Highway No. 51; thence northerly along the western side of the Picton-Christchurch State Highway No. 51, to its intersection with the northern side of Styx Mill Road; thence along a line across the Picton-Christchurch State Highway No. 51 at right angles to its western side, to the eastern side of the said State highway; thence southerly along that roadside to the northern side of Prestons Road; thence easterly along that roadside to the eastern side of Grimseys Road; thence southerly along the eastern side of Grimseys Road to the northern side of Winters Road; thence easterly along Winters Road to a point in line with the eastern side of Philpotts Road; thence southerly along the eastern side of Philpotts Road to the northern boundary of Christchurch City; thence easterly along that boundary to the western side of Hills Road and its production to the eastern side of Hills Road; thence south-easterly along the eastern side of Hills Road to the northern side of Briggs Road; thence along a right line to the intersection of the eastern side of Burwood Road with the northern side of Travis Road; thence easterly along the northern side of Travis Road, to the boundary of Christchurch City; thence generally westerly and southerly along the northern and western boundaries of Christchurch City to the northern boundary of Riccarton Borough; thence generally westerly, southerly, and easterly along the northern, western, and southern boundaries of Riccarton Borough to the boundary of Christchurch City; thence generally westerly and southerly and north-westerly to the commencing point; the boundary of the whole area being further indicated in red on the plan marked TT. 2378 and deposited in the Head Office of the Transport Department, Wellington.

Prosser Road, Mohuia Road, Raiha Road, Kotuku Street, Aparangi Crescent, Waiho Terrace, Hukatai Street, Ngahue Crescent, Muturangi Grove, Awarua Street, Kahika Grove.

All that area at Otematata Village including portion of the Pukeuri-Kurow-Omarama Main Highway No. 122 (from a point 48 chains east of its junction with East Road to a point 20 chains west of the junction of West Road with the said Main Highway, the whole area being more particularly indicated within the red border on plan TT. 2380 deposited in the office of the Transport Department at Wellington).

The Huntly-Rotowaro via Waikokowai Main Highway No. 887 (from its junction with the Huntly-Waingaro Main Highway No. 571 to a point 8 chains north-west of the said junction).

SITUATED within Tauranga County at Te Matai—

The Paeroa-Whakatane State Highway No. 16 (from the bridge over the Kaituna River to a point 45 chains west of the said bridge).

Approval of Testing Officers Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940

PURSUANT to regulation 5 of the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport hereby approves of the person named in column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being a testing officer under the said regulations for the authority specified in column 1 of the said Schedule.
