Revoking Designation of State Highway, Revoking Declaration of Public Highway to be Main Highway, and Designating Main Highway to be State Highway

PURSUANT to sections 11 and 12 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:
-
The main highway described in the First and Second Schedules hereto shall cease to be designated State highway.

(1) The public highway described in the First and Third Schedules hereto shall cease to be main highway.
(2) The Order in Council made on 10 October 1940* declaring (inter alia) the portions of highway described in the First Schedule hereto to be main highway is hereby consequentially amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said portions of highway.
(3) The Order in Council made on 5 April 1928† declaring (inter alia) the portions of highway described in the Third Schedule hereto to be main highway is consequentially amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said portions of highway.

The public highway described in the Fourth and Fifth Schedules hereto is hereby declared to be main highway within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.

The main highway described in the Fifth and Sixth Schedules hereto is hereby designated State highway and shall form part of the Auckland-Maungaturoto State Highway.

This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.

FIRST SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 2A
BIRKENHEAD-MAUNGATUROTO: All that portion of State highway within the boundaries of the Borough of Birkenhead commencing at the junction of the Birkenhead-Maungaturoto State Highway and Pupuke Road and terminating at the Birkenhead Wharf as described in Gazette, No. 103, dated 10 October 1940, being a distance of 1 mile 62 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 159093 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured black.

SECOND SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 2A
BIRKENHEAD-MAUNGATUROTO: All that portion of State highway within the Waitemata County commencing at the northern boundary of the Borough of Birkenhead, opposite the north-western corner of Lot 1, D.P. 27932, and proceeding thence generally in a northerly direction and terminating at a point opposite the westernmost corner of Lot 1, D.P. 40241, being a distance of 2 miles 42 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 159093 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 2A
NORTHCOTE ROAD: All that highway or portion of highway in the Borough of Northcote and the Waitemata County described as the Northcote Road Main Highway in Gazette No. 29, of 5 April 1928, being a distance of 3 miles 60 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 159093, and thereon coloured brown.

FOURTH SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 2A
ONEWA ROAD: All that road or portion of road in the Borough of Northcote commencing at its junction with Sylvan Avenue at a point distant approximately 1·2 chains east from the eastern abutment of the Sylvan Avenue Bridge and proceeding thence generally in a westerly direction along Gordon Road and terminating at its junction with the Onewa Road Main Highway, being a distance of 32 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 159093 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

FIFTH SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 2A
AUCKLAND-MAUNGATUROTO: All those streets or portions of streets in the Borough of Takapuna commencing at a point distant approximately 5 chains south-west from the easternmost corner of Allotment 92, D.P. 4244, and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly and north-westerly direction along Northcote Road, Taharoto Road, and Wairau Road and terminating at the western boundary of the said borough opposite the southernmost corner of Lot 17, D.P. 9343, being a distance of 1 mile 20 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 159093 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.
SIXTH SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 2A
AUCKLAND-MAUNGATUROTO: All that main highway or portion of Wairau Road Main Highway in the Waitemata County commencing at the western boundary of the Borough of Takapuna, opposite the southernmost corner of Lot 17, D.P. 9343, and proceeding thence generally in a westerly direction, and terminating at its junction with the present Birkenhead-Maungaturoto State Highway opposite the westernmost corner of Lot 1, D.P. 40241, being a distance of 1 mile 42 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 159093 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured sepia.

SECOND SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 1
MANGAWHAI-TOMORATA: All that highway or portion of public highway in the Otamatea County, commencing at its junction with the Mangawhai-Kaiwaka Main Highway opposite the westernmost corner of part Allotment 2, Parish of Mangawhai, and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction to a point on the northern bank of the Mangawhai Estuary opposite the easternmost corner of part Allotment 12, Parish of Mangawhai, S.O. 37485; thence across an arm of the sea to the southern bank of the said estuary, opposite the northernmost corner of part Allotment 13, Parish of Mangawhai; thence in a southerly direction generally in the Rodney County and terminating at its junction with the Te Hana-Tomorata Main Highway opposite the north-eastern corner of Section 65, Block IV, Pakiri Survey District, being a distance of 8 miles 29 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 158965 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.
