Revoking Designation of State Highway; Revoking Declaration of Main Highway, and Designating Main Highway to be State Highway

PURSUANT to sections 11 and 12 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. The main highway described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be designated State highway.

  2. (1) The public highway described in the First and Second Schedules hereto shall cease to be main highway.

(2) The Order in Council made on 2 October 1940,* declaring (inter alia) the portions of highway described in the First Schedule hereto to be main highway is hereby consequentially amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said portions of highway.

(3) The Order in Council made on 12 May 1948†, declaring (inter alia) the portions of highway described in the Second Schedule hereto to be main highway is hereby consequentially amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said portions of highway.

  1. The public highway described in the Third and Fourth Schedules hereto are hereby declared to be main highway within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.

  2. The main highway described in the Fourth Schedule hereto is hereby designated State highway and shall form part of the Paeroa-Whakatane State Highway.

  3. This notice shall come into force on the 2nd day of May 1959.


FIRST SCHEDULE

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 3

ALL that portion of public highway in the Borough and County of Tauranga commencing at the southern corner of Allotment 887, Section 2, Town of Tauranga, Block XIV, Tauranga Survey District and terminating at the intersection of Papamoa Beach Road and the Paeroa-Whakatane State Highway at the south-eastern corner of Section 1A, Block III, Te Tumu Survey District, being a distance of 9 miles 8 chains, more or less, declared as portion of the Paeroa-Whakatane State Highway.


SECOND SCHEDULE

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 3

ALL that public highway in the County of Tauranga and the Borough of Mount Maunganui commencing at its junction with the Paeroa-Whakatane State Highway and terminating at its junction with Beach Road, being a distance of 9 miles 5 chains, more or less, declared as the Mount Maunganui Main Highway.


THIRD SCHEDULE

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 3

MOUNT MAUNGANUI: All that public highway in the Borough of Mount Maunganui commencing at its intersection with the Paeroa-Whakatane State Highway at the western corner of Part Lot 5, Section 11B, Papamoa No. 2 Block, Block XI, Tauranga Survey District and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction and terminating at its junction with Beach Road, being a distance of 4 miles 40 chains, more or less, as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 158685 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.


FOURTH SCHEDULE

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 3

PAEROA-WHAKATANE: All that portion of public highway in the County of Tauranga commencing at the eastern corner of Maungatapu 1k Block, Block XI, Tauranga Survey District and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction to Te Maunga and then in a south-easterly direction, but excluding that portion in the Borough of Mount Maunganui, and terminating at the intersection of Papamoa Beach Road and the Paeroa-Whakatane State Highway at the south-eastern corner of Section 1A, Block III, Te Tumu Survey District, being a distance of 7 miles 20 chains, more or less, as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 158685 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Also all that portion of public highway in the Borough of Tauranga commencing at the southern corner of Allotment 887, Section 2, Town of Tauranga, Block XIV, Tauranga Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a southerly and north-easterly direction and terminating at the eastern corner of Maungatapu 1k Block, Block XI, Tauranga Survey District, being a distance of 2 miles 20 chains, more or less, as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 158685 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.

Also all that portion of public highway in the Borough of Mount Maunganui commencing at the western corner of part Lot 5, Section 11B, Papamoa No. 2 Block, Block XI, Tauranga Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction and terminating at the western corner of Section 10, Papamoa No. 2 Block, Block XI, Tauranga Survey District, being a distance of 20 chains, more or less, as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 158685 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.

Revoking Declaration of Main Highway

PURSUANT to section 11 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. (1) The public highway described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highway.

(2) The Order in Council made on the 24th day of March 1953,* declaring (inter alia) the portion of public highway firstly described in the Schedule hereto to be main highway is hereby consequentially amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said portion of public highway.

  1. This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 9B

JOHNSONVILLE-NEWLANDS: All that public highway formerly within the County of Makara, but now within Wellington City declared as the Johnsonville-Newlands Main Highway, as described in Order in Council dated 24 March 1953, and published in the Gazette on 1 April 1953, page 543.
