Reserve Bank of New Zealand

PURSUANT to section 45 of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Act 1933 (as amended by section 23 of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Amendment Act 1936), the Governor of the Reserve Bank, acting with the authority of the Minister of Finance, hereby gives notice that, as from 24 April 1959, the balance to be maintained in the Reserve Bank by each other bank for the time being carrying on business in New Zealand in accordance with the said section 45 shall be such that, when added to that bank’s holding of Reserve Bank notes, it shall be equal to not less than 28½ per cent of its demand liabilities in New Zealand, plus 10 per cent of its time liabilities in New Zealand, as shown in the last preceding monthly return furnished by that bank in accordance with section 46 of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Act 1933:

Provided that the minimum balance to be maintained at the Reserve Bank shall not be less than 7 per cent of its demand liabilities in New Zealand, plus 3 per cent of its time liabilities in New Zealand.

For the purpose of this calculation a bank’s holding of Reserve Bank notes shall be as shown in the latest available weekly return provided under the Statistics Act 1955.

Trade Marks—Goods, the Importation of Which is Prohibited

PURSUANT to the Merchandise Marks Act 1954, goods of the nature set forth hereunder, to which the trade mark described below or any mark so nearly resembling the same as to be calculated to deceive has been falsely applied in infringement of the registered trade mark of the Lincoln Electric Co. (Australia) Pty. Ltd., 109 Euston Road, Alexandria, near Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, are prohibited from importation.

If any such goods are imported they will be liable to detention and to be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the Act.

A trade mark is deemed, for the purposes of the aforesaid Act, to be falsely applied to goods if it is applied without the assent of the proprietor of such trade mark.

Nature of Goods
Electric motors, electric generators, motor generator units actuated electrically or mechanically for supplying electric current, electric converters, and electric arc welding machines and parts thereof, including arc welding heads, arc welding electrodes, and arc welding electrode holders.

Welding fluxes and compounds.

Description of Trade Mark
No. 56604 in Class 7, dated 14 June 1955, comprising the word “Lincoln”.

No. 60997 in Class 1, dated 22 November 1957, comprising the word “Lincoln”.

Lands Declared to be Infected Area for the Purposes of Section 12 of the Stock Act 1908 (Notice No. Ag. 6725)

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Stock Act 1908, the lands described in the Schedule hereto have been declared an infected area for the purposes of the said section.

SCHEDULE

ALL that area of land situated at or near the Boroughs of Masterton and Carterton and bounded:

Towards the south-west from the Ruamahanga River to the Wellington-Masterton State Highway, by Kokotau Road, Woodlands Road, Nixs Road, Carters Line, and Somerset Road; towards the north-west from Somerset Road to the junction of Solway Crescent and Mania Road, by the Wellington-Masterton State Highway; towards the north-east from Solway Crescent to South Road, by Mania Road; towards the north from Mania Road to the Masterton-Tauweru road, by South Road, Cockburn Street, Colombo Road, Kuripuni Street, Makora Road, Johnstone Street, River Road, and the Ruamahanga River; towards the north-east from the Ruamahanga River to the Taumataria Stream, by the Masterton-Tauweru road; towards the south-east from the Masterton-Tauweru road to Kokotau Road, by the Taumataria Stream and the Tauweru and Ruamahanga Rivers.

As the same is more particularly shown edged red on maps lodged in the post offices at Masterton and Carterton.

Land Declared to be Infected Place for the Purposes of Section 12 of the Stock Act 1908 (Notice No. Ag. 6723)

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Stock Act 1908, the land described in the Schedule hereto has been declared an infected place for the purposes of the said section.

SCHEDULE

ALL that area situated in the South Wairarapa County in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 739 acres, being Sections 51, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, and accretion, Taratahi Plain Block, Block V, Otahoua Survey District, and Block VIII, Tiffin Survey District.

Dated at Wellington this 16th day of April 1959.
