✨ Weather, Maori Land and Bankruptcy Notices
20 FEBRUARY THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE 225
On the 11th the anticyclone in the Tasman Sea moved over North Auckland and as pressures were low to the South, a strong north-west wind prevailed over Wellington Province and the South Island. Pressures remained high in northern New Zealand until the 16th while another series of cold fronts gave rain in western districts.
Winds turned south-westerly on the 18th with the approach of another anticyclone, but veered north-westerly again and became strong on the 20th. By that time the anticyclone had moved across Northland and a cold front had advanced onto the South Island.
The frontal zone assumed a complex structure and became slow moving across the South Island giving heavy falls on the west coast on the 23rd and 24th. By the 28th it had become diffuse. During this period weather was mainly fine and warm east of the ranges.
On the 29th another front moved slowly over the South Island while pressure started to rise rapidly to the south. By the end of the month one high pressure cell was centred over Northland and another south of New Zealand.
