Compensation Awarded to Owner of Licensed Premises
(Reefton)
WHEREAS, on 12 May 1955, pursuant to section 45 of the Licensing Amendment Act 1948, the Licensing Control Commission gave notice by advertisement in the Gazette and in newspapers circulating in the Buller Licensing District of compensation awarded to the under-mentioned owner consequent upon cancellation of the publican’s licence in respect of the premises shown below:
And whereas the under-mentioned owner appealed to the Supreme Court under the provisions of section 65A of the said Act (as enacted by section 28 of the Licensing Amendment Act (No. 2) 1953):
Take notice that, by judgment dated 14 October 1957, the Supreme Court has modified the decision and award of compensation made by the Commission to such owner by awarding the following:
“Buck’s Head” Hotel at Reefton:
Hector Harris Leonard Poulton, care of Pringle, McIlroy, and Gilkison, solicitors, 22 Brandon Street, Wellington, as owner, the sum of £1,825 together with the sum of £63 for costs of the appeal with disbursements for fees of Court and witnesses’ expenses, to be fixed by the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Wellington.
And further take notice that no person (other than the above-named person and other than a person claiming a lien as mortgagee) shall be entitled to receive the compensation or make any claim in respect of the compensation awarded unless notice in writing of such claim, stating whether compensation is claimed by him as owner or as licensee, is lodged with the Commission within six weeks of 17 October 1957, being the date of publication of this notice in the Gazette; and further take notice that any mortgagee from an owner or licensee shall, upon giving written notice to the Commission within one month after 17 October 1957 aforesaid, have a lien on the amount of compensation payable to the mortgagor for the amount of the mortgage debt and any interest or other charges owing to the mortgagee under or in respect of the mortgage.
The previous awards of compensation and notice thereof advertised in the Gazette on 12 May 1955, in so far as they relate to the compensation awarded to the owner of the “Buck’s Head” Hotel, at Reefton, are hereby revoked.

Releasing Land from the Provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953 (Kaipara Development Scheme)
PURSUANT to section 332 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby declares that on the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette, the land described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be subject to the provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the said land being so subject by virtue of a notice dated 21 August 1953 and published in the Gazette, 27 August 1953, Volume II, page 1417.

Releasing Land from the Provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953 (Omapere Development Scheme)
PURSUANT to section 332 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby declares that on the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette, the land described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be subject to the provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the said land being so subject by virtue of a notice dated 24 April 1956 and published in the Gazette, 3 May 1956, Volume I, page 587.

PURSUANT to section 332 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby declares that on the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette, the land described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be subject to the provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the said land being so subject by virtue of a notice dated 20 April 1938 and published in the Gazette, 21 April 1938, Volume I, page 1004.
