24 JANUARY THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE Revoking Declaration of Main Highway and Declaring Public Highway to be Main Highway
Pursuant to section 11 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. (1) The main highway described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highway.
    (2) The Order in Council made on the 12th day of May 1948* declaring (inter alia) the said highway to be main highway is hereby consequentially amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said highway.
  2. The public highway described in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be main highway within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.
  3. This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette.
    FIRST SCHEDULE
    ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICTS Nos. 6 AND 7 ALL that public highway in the Counties of Taumarunui and Stratford and the Borough of Stratford declared as the Stratford-Tatu Main Highway as described in Order in Council dated the 12th day of May 1948.
    SECOND SCHEDULE
    ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 6 STRATFORD-OHURA: All that public highway in the County of Taumaruni commencing at the western boundary of the said County near the south-western corner of Section 7, Block 4, Pouatu Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction via Ohura Road, Paorae Road, and Mahorahora Road to the south-eastern boundary of the Town District of Ohura adjacent to the north-eastern corner of part Section 7, Block V, Ohura Survey District, being a distance of 16 miles 32 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 152247 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.
    Also all that public highway in the Town District of Ohura commencing at the south-eastern boundary of the said town district adjacent to the north-eastern corner of part Section 7, Block V, Ohura Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a northerly direction via Ohura Road to its junction with the Ahititi-Mangatupoto State Highway near the north-eastern corner of Section 1, Block X, Town of Ohura, Block V, Ohura Survey District, being a distance of 48 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 152245 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.
    Tatu-Taumarunui: All that public highway in the County of Taumarunui commencing at its junction with the Stratford-Ohura Main Highway near the north-eastern corner of Subsection 1 of Section 13, Block IX, Ohura Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in an easterly direction via Harvey, Tokirima, Roto, Kururau, Opetea, Aorangi, Wanganui River, and Kururau Roads, and terminating at its junction with the Te Kuiti-National Park State Highway near the north-western corner of Section N 2E 3G 1A, Block 2, Piopiotea West Survey District, being a distance of 26 miles, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 152247 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured black.
    ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 7 Stratford-Ohura: All that public highway in the County of Stratford commencing at the eastern boundary of the Borough of Stratford near the north-west corner of Section 1, Block 2, Ngaire Survey District, D.P. 1083, and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction via Ohura Road to the north-eastern boundary of the said County, near the south-western corner of Section 7, Block 4, Pouatu Survey District, being a distance of 57 miles 64 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 152246 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.
    Also all that public highway in the Borough of Stratford commencing at its junction with the New Plymouth-Hawera State Highway at the intersection of Broadway and Regan Streets, and proceeding thence generally in an easterly direction via Regan Street and Ohura Road and terminating at the eastern boundary of the said borough near the north-west corner of Section 1, Block 2, Ngaire Survey District, D.P. 1083, being a distance of 68 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 152307 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.
