Boundaries of County of Akaroa and Wainui Riding of That County Defined

PURSUANT to section 16 of the Counties Act 1956, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby defines, as set out in the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the County of Akaroa and the Wainui Riding of that county, the previous boundaries having been altered by Order in Council made on 20 February 1957 and published in Gazette, 28 February 1957, No. 15, page 316.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF COUNTY OF AKAROA

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District commencing at a point on the mean high-water mark of the sea, at the head of Big Bay, Block III, Pigeon Bay Survey District, and in line with the western boundary of a road passing through Rural Sections 27872, 33229, 24754, 24758, and 24762; thence south-easterly, southerly, and south-westerly generally along the mean high-water mark of the sea to Truini Point, Block XII, Akaroa Survey District; thence south-westerly along a right line to Timutimu Head; thence westerly along the mean high-water mark of the sea to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Rural Section 22707, Block XI, Akaroa Survey District; thence north-easterly generally to and along the south-eastern and north-eastern boundaries of the said Rural Section 22707, the south-eastern boundary of Rural Section 22755, the south-western, north-western, and north-eastern boundaries of Rural Section 23314 and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of Maginnes Road; thence north-easterly along the middle of Maginnes Road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Rural Section 4547; thence north-westerly to and along that boundary to the westernmost corner of the said Rural Section 4547; thence northerly along a right line to Trig. Station C (Bossu), Block VII, Akaroa Survey District; thence north-westerly and northerly generally along the summit of the range passing through Carews Peak, Saddle Hill, Wainui Pass, and French Hill, to the south-eastern side of the Christchurch-Akaroa State Highway No. 74, at Barrys Pass (Hill Top); thence south-westerly generally along the south-eastern side of the said State highway to a point opposite the southernmost corner of Reserve 1259; thence northerly generally along a right line to the said point; thence along the western boundary of Reserve 1259 aforesaid and its production to the northern side of a road forming the northern boundary of the said reserve (Harmans Track); thence easterly generally along the northern side of that road, the Christchurch-Akaroa State Highway No. 74, and the Little River to Pigeon Bay Summit Road, to the eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 11894; thence north-easterly generally along that boundary, the eastern boundary of part Lot 11, D.P. 4902, and the south-eastern boundary of Lot 5, D.P. 4902, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of Purau or Summit Road; thence north-westerly along the middle of that road to a point in line with the western side of a road passing through Rural Sections 32152, 33405, 24203, and 28291; thence northerly to and along that roadside to the northern boundary of Rural Section 28291; thence northerly and north-easterly generally to and along the eastern boundary of Rural Section 26939, the crossing of a public road, to and along the western and northern boundaries of Lot 3, D.P. 8086, to the western side of a road passing through Rural Sections 24762, 24758, 24754, 33229, and 27872; thence northerly generally along that roadside and its production to the mean high-water mark of the sea at the head of Big Bay, being the point of commencement.

BOUNDARIES OF WAINUI RIDING

All that area in the County of Akaroa bounded by a line commencing at a point on the mean high-water mark of the sea in Stony Bay, in line with the south-western boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 6152, Block V, Goughs Survey District; thence south-westerly, northerly, southerly, and westerly along the mean high-water mark of the sea and Akaroa Harbour to the western boundary of the Akaroa County hereinbefore described; thence northerly generally along that county boundary to the middle of the Purau or Summit Road, Block XIV, Pigeon Bay Survey District; thence south-easterly along the middle of that road to Main Highway 182 (Summit Road); thence north-easterly, south-easterly, and southerly generally to and along the middle of that main highway to Long Bay Saddle; thence south-westerly generally to and along the middle of a road forming the south-eastern boundaries of Rural Sections 35232 and 35004 to a point in line with the northern boundary of Rural Section 14559; thence westerly and southerly to and along the northern and western boundaries of the said section and its production to the middle of the road forming the south-eastern boundaries of Rural Sections 35452, 17180, 13770, and 31238; thence south-westerly along the middle of that road to a point in line with the boundary between Rural Sections 21677 and 35224; thence south-easterly to and along that boundary and its production to the middle of a road forming the north-western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 6152; thence south-westerly generally along the middle of that road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 6152; thence south-easterly generally to and along the south-western boundaries of Lots 2 and 3, D.P. 6152, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the mean high-water mark of the sea, being the point of commencement.

Declaration of Result of Election of Producers' Representatives on the Otago Raspberry Marketing Committee (Notice No. Ag. 6323)

I, David James Winter, returning officer for the purpose of the election of four producers' representatives for appointment to the Otago Raspberry Marketing Committee, established under the Otago Raspberry Marketing Regulations 1950, do hereby declare the following producers to have been duly nominated, namely:

Northern Ward—
Arthur Pitts Bremner.
William Thomas Cottee.

Southern Ward—
Alan Stanley Bathgate.
Arnold David Paterson.

As the number of representatives required in each ward is two, and as the number of candidates nominated in each ward does not exceed two, I therefore declare the said Arthur Pitts Bremner and William Thomas Cottee to be duly elected for appointment as representing the Northern Ward, and the said Alan Stanley Bathgate and Arnold David Paterson to be duly elected for appointment as representing the Southern Ward.
