of the Peace Treaty with Japan, for the disposition of certain former German assets in Japan. The following persons are not eligible to lodge claims:

(a) German nationals who resided in Germany during the period 1939–1948 except persons subject to persecutions.
(b) German nationals who resided in Japan during the war and who were repatriated to Germany by order of the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers.
c) German nationals who resided in countries other than Germany or Japan during the war and who either were subjected to restrictions of personal liberty as enemy nationals or whose property in the country in which they resided has been vested by the government of the country.
(d) Juridical persons organised under German law or registered as German in any German Embassy or Consulate.
e) Japanese juridical persons owned or controlled by (a) to (d).

Claims by persons who have already submitted claims in respect of vested assets to the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers or to the Tripartite Commission will not be entertained unless new and cogent evidence is produced.

Claims must be submitted in English by registered post or delivered personally to the Secretary General, Tripartite Commission, Nikkatsu International Building, Tokyo, Japan, by 6 August 1957, and must be accompanied by full documentary proof. All claims will be examined and determined by the Tripartite Commission, whose decision will be final.

Land Surveyors' Examination, August 1957—Australia and New Zealand

It is hereby notified for general information that the Survey Board, in conjunction with the Australian Surveyors’ Boards, will conduct an examination of candidates for registration as surveyors, commencing at 9 a.m. on Monday, 19 August 1957, at Wellington.

Candidates are notified that their applications, on the proper form, must reach the Secretary of the Board not later than Monday, 22 July 1957, and that the examination fee must be paid at the same time to the Secretary, from whom application forms and other particulars may be obtained.

Candidates presenting themselves for examination in any written subject or subjects may present themselves for examination at any Chief Surveyor’s Office, or at Rotorua, Whangarei, or Hamilton.

Candidates for the oral and practical portion of the examination must sit in Wellington. Plans for this portion of the examination, the certificate, and other evidence required by regulation No. 31 of the Survey Examination Regulations 1953, must be forwarded not later than 9 September 1957.

The fees for examination are as follows:
