Port Conciliation Committee for the Port of Nelson Appointed
Pursuant to the Waterfront Industry Act 1953, the Minister of Labour hereby appoints the following persons to be the Port Conciliation Committee for the Port of Nelson for a term expiring on the 28th day of February 1958.
Alan Kersley Gray, Chairman; and Kenneth James Chappell, Kenneth Dudley Rankin, and Edward James Sadd (nominated by the New Zealand Port Employers' Association (Incorporated); and William Henry Parr (nominated by the Nelson Harbour Board); and Gordon Desmond Davey, David Henry Hogan, Rex Reginald Walker, and Percy Victor Willis (nominated by the Nelson Watersiders' Industrial Union of Workers).

Pursuant to section 27 of the Harbours Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint Albert Vincent O'Brien, of Hokitika, and Henry Robert Pierson, of Hokitika, to be members of the Hokitika Harbour Board as representatives of the electors of the Borough of Hokitika.

Appointment of Examiner of Masters and Mates, and Examiner of Applicants in the Sight Tests
Pursuant to the provisions of the Shipping and Seaman Act 1952, I, Richard Geoffrey Gerard, Minister of Marine, do hereby appoint Edgar Gerald Boyack to be an examiner of masters and mates, and examiner of applicants in the sight tests, for the purpose of the Shipping and Seamen Act 1952, as from the date hereof.

Pursuant to section 47 of the Judicature Act 1908, the Right Honourable Sir Harold Eric Barrowclough, K.C.M.G., Chief Justice of New Zealand, has this day appointed John Cecil Thomas Read, Esquire, of Sydney, New South Wales, a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, to be a Commissioner of the Supreme Court of New Zealand in New South Wales, for the purposes of administering and taking of such oaths, affidavits, and affirmations as in the said section mentioned.
