✨ Railway Charges and Tariffs



  1. Waimangaroa Branch Line

  2. Goods and sheep booked through between stations on the Government railway and Conn's Creek will be charged upon the branch, in addition to the classified or local rates on the Government railway, as follows:
    Between Waimangaroa and Conn's Creek: Sheep, 1s. per head; timber, 1s. per 100 super feet; coal and minerals, minimum quantity, 6 tons per four-wheeled wagon, 1s. 5d. per ton; other goods, 4s. 8d. per ton. Minimum charge, 1s. 5d.

  3. Goods booked between Waimangaroa and Conn's Creek will be charged at the rates shown in paragraph 1 hereof. Owners of sheep must take all risk and responsibility, and perform all loading and unloading.

  4. Parcels conveyed between stations on the main line and Conn's Creek will be charged 7d. per parcel, in addition to the ordinary parcel rates.

  5. Hydraulic Cranes, Greymouth

  6. Loading or unloading by hydraulic cranes will be performed at the option of the Department, and except as otherwise provided the charge will be 2s. per ton, with a minimum charge of 10s. per lift.

  7. Special lifts (as determined by the Department) will be charged at the following rate per lift or otherwise as may be determined by the Chief Stationmaster, Greymouth:

Minimum charge for hydraulic crane when specially ordered, £8.

  1. Port Traffic, Dunedin

Except as otherwise provided, the haulage charge on goods between Dunedin and Victoria Wharf will be computed as per reg. 96, para 5, subparas. (b) and (c), General Scale of Charges. The charges on goods conveyed to or from Victoria Wharf from or to stations beyond Dunedin will be computed on the Dunedin mileage plus two miles.

  1. Dunedin Saleyards Co.'s, Ltd., Private Siding at Burnside

Small consignments of goods hauled between Burnside Station and the Dunedin Saleyards Co.'s, Ltd., private siding will be charged for such haulage at the rate of 8d. for each 28 lb. or part thereof with a minimum charge of 3s. per consignment, or under the provisions of reg. 97, General Scale of Charges, whichever is the cheaper.
