Control of Prices (Positive List) Notice 1955, Amendment No. 7

Pursuant to the Control of Prices Act 1947, the Minister of Industries and Commerce hereby gives the following notice:

  1. This notice may be cited as the Control of Prices (Positive List) Notice 1955, Amendment No. 7, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Control of Prices (Positive List) Notice 1955* (hereinafter referred to as the principal notice).

  2. This notice shall come into force on the 5th day of March 1957.

  3. The principal notice shall cease to apply in respect of the goods and services set out in the Schedule hereto.

  4. The principal notice is hereby consequentially amended by omitting from the Schedule thereto all references to the goods and services referred to in the Schedule hereto in respect of which, pursuant to clause 3 hereof, the principal notice no longer applies.


SCHEDULE

ITEMS NOW EXEMPTED FROM PRICE FIXATION

CHEMICALS AND CHEMICAL SUBSTANCES

Drugs and related commodities

Drugs and any other substances and mixtures of substances specially prepared for use in the treatment, prevention, investigation, or alleviation of any disease, illness, or injury which are not included in the Drug Tariff 1953 and its amendments, as defined in the Social Security (Pharmaceutical Supplies) Regulations 1941/66, reprinted 1951/197.

Petroleum products

Kerosene, when sold in containers of no greater capacity than one imperial quart.

Lubricating oils and greases.

Sprays and insecticides

Selective hormone weedkillers.


CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR

Apparel

Blazers, maids’ and boys’, except school uniform.

Costumes, of wool, or containing wool, women’s and maids’, except maids’ school uniform.

Hosiery:

Socks and stockings as follows:

Partially processed fully fashioned hosiery.

Women’s full length fully fashioned hosiery.

Overcoats and raincoats—

Women’s, of wool or containing wool.

Maids’, of wool or containing wool, except school uniform.

Clothing, rubber and rubberised, except school uniform.

Skirts, of wool or containing wool, except maids’ school uniform.

Suits, women’s, of wool or containing wool.

Manchester and fabrics

Piece goods including cut lengths and fabrics as follows:

(a) Woven piece goods of cotton or artificial fabrics as follows:

Casement cloths.

Drill.

Tailors’ trimmings and linings.

(b) Knitted piece goods as follows:

Cotton or containing cotton.

Rayon or containing rayon.

Rayon, warp loom.

Tailors’ trimmings and linings.

Yarns and fibres

Yarns and fibres, machine, of wool, cotton, nylon, rayon, and silk and mixtures thereof.

Clothing and footwear services

Clothing and footwear services of all kinds as defined in the Control of Prices (Positive List) Notice 1955, Gazette No. 19 of 14 March 1955 as amended.
