Appointment of the Akitio County Council to Control and Manage a Reserve

Pursuant to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, the Minister of Lands hereby appoints The Akitio County Council to control and manage the reserve described in the Schedule hereto, subject to the provisions of the said Act, as a scenic reserve.

Appointment of the Putaruru Free Kindergarten Association Incorporated to Control and Manage a Reserve

Pursuant to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, the Minister of Lands hereby appoints The Putaruru Free Kindergarten Association Incorporated to control and manage the reserve described in the Schedule hereto, subject to the provisions of the said Act, as a site for a kindergarten.

Appointment of Additional Member to Motu Domain Board

Pursuant to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, the Minister of Lands hereby increases the total number of members of the Motu Domain Board, Gisborne Land District, from five to six, and appoints Bernard James Taylor as the additional member of the Board.

Revoking Appointment of and Appointing Licensing Authorities for Issue of Heavy Traffic Licences

Pursuant to subclause (2) of regulation 10 of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1955,* the Minister of Transport hereby revokes that part of a Warrant dated 2 May 1954† appointing the local authority described in column 1 of the First Schedule as the licensing authority for the purpose of collecting heavy traffic fees due under the said regulations for the district of the local authority and for such areas as are described in column 2 of the First Schedule hereto, and hereby appoints the local authorities described in column 1 of the Second Schedule hereto to be the licensing authorities for the purpose of collecting heavy traffic fees due under the said regulations for the district of the respective local authority and for such area or other areas as are described in column 2 of the Second Schedule opposite the respective name of the said local authority.

Provided that the Commissioner of Transport shall be the licensing authority in the case of all heavy motor vehicles owned by the Crown as provided by subclause (2) of the said regulation.

Revocation of Appointment of Garage Proprietor for Issue of Warrants of Fitness

Pursuant to regulation 11 of the Traffic Regulations 1936, the Minister of Transport hereby revokes the approval of the firm described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of the issue of warrants of fitness for motor vehicles.

Appointment of Licensing Authority for the Auckland Harbour Ferry Service District

Pursuant to section 84 (4) of the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby appoints Ronald Stuart Park, of Auckland, as Licensing Authority for the Auckland Harbour Ferry Service District for a term commencing on the 14th day of November 1956 and expiring on the 30th day of September 1959.

Appointment of Judge of the High Court of Western Samoa

Pursuant to section 64 of the Samoa Act 1921, the Minister of Island Territories hereby appoints William Harold Woodward, Esquire, of New Plymouth, to be a Judge of the High Court of Western Samoa as from the 7th day of October 1956 and, as from the 14th day of October 1956, to be the Acting Chief Judge of that Court during the absence from Western Samoa on furlough of Charles Croft Marsack, Esquire, the Chief Judge of that Court.

Scheme of Control of Waihi College

Pursuant to section 92 of the Education Act 1914, the Minister of Education hereby approves of Waihi College being controlled in accordance with the Standard Scheme of Control for Secondary Schools published in the Gazette on 6 December 1928, Volume III, page 3451:

Provided that:
(a) The Standard Scheme shall be read as if clauses 7, 8, and 9 were revoked;
(b) Clause 11 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if the words "Such election shall be held in the first week of the month of May in the year 1929" were omitted, and the words "The first such election shall be held not later than the first week of the month of May in the year 1957, and such an election shall be held in the first week of the month of May in the year 1959" were substituted therefor;
(c) Clause 19 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if every reference to the year 1929 were a reference to the year 1959;
(d) Clause 43 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if the words "The Secretary shall be insured under a fidelity bond for a sum of not less than five hundred pounds" were omitted.
