northern boundary of Aratangata 2A 1; thence easterly along
the northern boundaries of Aratangata 2A 1, 2A 2, 2A 3, and
2A 4 to the left bank of the Manawatu River; thence easterly
generally up the left bank of the Manawatu River and its
production to a point in the middle of the Otauru Stream,
being the point of commencement.

Adding Lands to the Fiordland National Park and Excluding
Lands Therefrom

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 10 of the National Parks Act 1952, His
Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares
that the lands described in the First and Second Schedules
hereto shall as from the date hereof be added to and form
part of the Fiordland National Park, and such lands shall
hereafter be subject to the provisions of the said Act, and
further hereby declares that the lands described in the Third
Schedule hereto shall as from the aforesaid date be excluded
from the said park.

FIRST SCHEDULE

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT

State Forest Land Subject to the Provisions of the Forests
Act 1949 Added to Fiordland National Park

ALL those areas described as follows:

Firstly, all that area containing by estimation 5,640 acres,
more or less, commencing at a point on the eastern shore of
Lake Monowai, in line with the southern boundary of Section 2, Block V, Monowai Survey District; thence easterly,
north-easterly, and north-westerly along the southern, south-
eastern, and north-eastern boundaries of Sections 2 and 4,
Block V aforesaid, to the right bank of the Monowai River;
then north-easterly generally along the said right bank of
the Monowai River and the southern boundary of Run 413
to the watershed between Lake Monowai and the Waiharakeke
Stream and the Hindley Burn at National Grid Reference
S12/658730; thence south-westerly generally along the said
watershed to the boundary of Fiordland National Park at
National Grid Reference S12/576615; thence northerly and
north-easterly generally along said park boundary to the
point of commencement.

Secondly, all that area containing by estimation 6,200 acres,
more or less, commencing at a point on the boundary of
Fiordland National Park at National Grid Reference
S12/455388; thence westerly, south-westerly, northerly, and
again westerly along the said park boundary to National Grid
Reference S12/378404; thence southerly generally along the
bush edge to National Grid Reference S12/377395, being the
summit of the watershed between two streams flowing into
the Wairaurahiri River; thence south-easterly generally along
the said watershed to a point on the Wairaurahiri River at
National Grid Reference S12/416353; thence again south-
easterly generally along the watershed between the Waitapu
Stream and the Kaikokoru Stream to the summit of the
Hump Ridge; thence northerly generally along the summit of
the Hump Ridge passing through Trig. Station E, The Hump,
and along the watershed between the Wairaurahiri River and
the Waikoau River to the point of commencement.

Thirdly, all that area containing by estimation 400 acres,
more or less, commencing at a point on the boundary of
Fiordland National Park, at National Grid Reference
S12/306401; thence westerly along the said park boundary to
the eastern shore of Lake Poteriteri; thence southerly generally
along the eastern shore of Lake Poteriteri to a point at
National Grid Reference S12/289385; thence north-easterly
generally along the watershed between two streams flowing
into Lake Poteriteri to a point on the bush edge at National
Grid Reference S12/303394; thence north-easterly generally
along the bush edge to the point of commencement.

Fourthly, all that area containing by estimation 200 acres,
more or less, commencing at a point on the eastern shore of
Lake Poteriteri at National Grid Reference S12/289385;
thence easterly generally along the watershed between two
streams flowing into Lake Poteriteri to a point 2 chains from

the eastern shore of Lake Poteriteri; thence southerly generally along a line running parallel to, and at a distance of 2
chains from the eastern shore of Lake Poteriteri, to and across the Waitutu River; thence northerly along a line running parallel to, and at distance of 2 chains from, the western shore of Lake Poteriteri, to a point on the watershed running from Trig. Station G in Block IV, Waitutu Survey District, to a point on the western shore of Lake Poteriteri, National Grid Reference S12/279279; thence south-easterly along that watershed to the last-mentioned point; thence southerly generally along the western shore and northerly along the eastern shore of Lake Poteriteri to the point of commencement.

Fifthly, all of the bush-clad land containing by estimation
93,000 acres, more or less, within the area bounded as follows:
commencing at the intersection of the boundary of Fiordland National Park and the western shore of Lake Poteriteri;
then westery along the said park boundary to the eastern boundary of Preservation Survey District; then southerly along the eastern boundary of Preservation Survey District to the southern boundary of Block XIII, Preservation Survey District; then westery along the southern boundary of the said Block XIII to the south-eastern shore of Preservation Inlet; thence south-westerly generally along the mean high-water mark on the south-eastern shore of Preservation Inlet, to the eastern boundary of a lighthouse reserve in Block I, Preservation Survey District; thence due south along the eastern boundary of the said lighthouse reserve to mean high-water mark on the sea coast; thence southerly and easterly along the said mean high-water mark to and across Big River to the left bank thereof; thence northerly generally along the left bank of Big River, to the eastern shore of Lake Hakapoua; thence north-easterly generally along the eastern shore of Lake Hakapoua, to the watershed between Big River and another stream flowing into Lake Hakapoua, National Grid Reference S12/166290; then easterly along the said watershed to the summit of the main watershed passing through Mount Aitken, between Big River and Lake Poteriteri, and the Aan River, the Grant Burn, and the tributaries of the Waitutu River, to the mountain marked 3,687 ft. high; then south-easterly generally along the watershed between streams flowing into Lake Poteriteri and the northern tributaries of the Waitutu River to Trig. Station G, in Block IV, Waitutu Survey District; thence easterly and south-easterly along the watershed between two streams flowing into Lake Poteriteri, to a point on the western shore of the said lake at National Grid Reference S12/279279; thence northerly generally along the western shore of the said lake to the point of commencement, and including the beds and waters of all internal rivers, lakes, and streams, but excluding all public roads, and the Town of Cromarty and the Town of Te Oneroa.

Sixthly, all that area containing by estimation 70 acres,
more or less, comprising a strip of land 2 chains wide along
the eastern shore of Lake Hakapoua from Big River to the
watershed between Big River and a stream flowing into Lake
Hakapoua, at National Grid Reference S12/166290.

As shown on the plan marked L. and S. 4/300L deposited in
the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at
Wellington, under number 3115, and thereon edged green as to
the areas firstly, secondly, thirdly, and fifthly described, and
thereon coloured green as to the areas fourthly and sixthly
described.

SECOND SCHEDULE

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT

Crown Land Subject to the Provisions of the Land Act 1948
Added to Fiordland National Park

ALL those areas described as follows:

Firstly, all those areas of open land within the area fifthly
described in the First Schedule hereto containing by estimation a total of 20,500 acres, more or less, and including the bed and waters of Lake Hakapoua.

Secondly, all that area containing 620 acres, more or less,
being that part of Block XIII, Preservation Survey District,
not already included in Fiordland National Park.

Thirdly, all that area containing by estimation 830 acres,
more or less, commencing at a point on the boundary of
Fiordland National Park, at National Grid Reference
S12/378404; thence westerly along the said park boundary to
the bush edge at National Grid Reference S12/350403; thence
southerly, north-easterly generally, and north-westerly along
the bush edge to the point of commencement.

Fourthly, all that area containing by estimation 100 acres,
more or less, commencing at a point on the boundary of
Fiordland National Park at National Grid Reference
S12/330402; thence westerly along the said park boundary, to
the bush edge at National Grid Reference S12/321401; thence
south-easterly and northerly generally along the bush edge to
the point of commencement.

Fifthly, all that area containing by estimation 160 acres,
more or less, commencing at a point on the boundary of
Fiordland National Park at National Grid Reference
S12/317401; thence westerly along the said park boundary, to
the bush edge at National Grid Reference S12/306401; thence
south-westerly, south-easterly, and north-easterly generally
along the bush edge to the point of commencement.
