CLASSIFICATION OF ASSISTANT TEACHERS IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS, TECHNICAL SCHOOLS, COMBINED SCHOOLS, AND SECONDARY DEPARTMENTS OF DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOLS AND OF MANUAL-TRAINING TEACHERS

THE following lists give the classification for 1956 of teachers employed as full-time assistants in the post-primary service.

Attention is drawn to the regulations relating to appeals of teachers against their classification, under which any teacher who considers he has good grounds for objection to his classification may lodge an appeal with the Director of Education. Any such appeal should reach the Director not later than 20 March and should contain an explicit statement of the grounds on which the appeal is based. Forms for the purpose of an appeal may be obtained on application to the Director of Education, Education Department, Wellington, or District Superintendent of Education, Private Bag, Newmarket, Auckland.

NOTES.—(1) In the last column of the classification list the following abbreviations are used; "Coll." for College, "G.S." for Grammar School, "H.S." for High School, "T.C." for Technical College, "T.H.S." for Technical High School, "D.H.S." for District High School, "E.B." for Education Board, "M.D.H.S." for Maori District High School, "M.T.C." for Memorial Technical College, "A.H.S." for Agricultural High School.

(2) Asterisk (*) indicates Posts of Responsibility; L, on leave; R, non-permanent position; P, provisional grading.

(3) Teachers who desire their grading marks may have them on application to the appropriate office of the Department. Grading marks are not available for provisional gradings.

(4) Teachers in the Auckland area should address all inquiries to or lodge appeals with the District Superintendent of Education, Private Bag, Newmarket, Auckland.
