Revoking Declaration of Main Highway and Declaring Public Highway to be Main Highway


PURSUANT to section 11 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. (1) The public highway described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highway.

(2) The notice by the National Roads Board dated the 23rd day of August 1956* declaring the public highway described in the First Schedule hereto to be main highway is hereby consequentially revoked.

  1. The public highway described in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby declared main highway within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.

  2. This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette.

FIRST SCHEDULE

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 15

ALL that public highway declared as the Waikakahi Main Highway as described in notice by the National Roads Board dated 23rd day of August 1956.*

SECOND SCHEDULE

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 15

Waikakahi: All that public highway in the County of Waimate commencing at its junction with Deep Creek–Kurow via Waimate Main Highway at the north-western corner of Lot 3, Block XI, Elephant Hill Survey District; thence proceeding generally in an easterly direction via the public highways known as Middle Road and Redcliff Glenavy Road to the southern boundary of Lot 10, Block X, Waitaki Survey District; thence generally in a north-easterly direction by way of that public highway known as Old Ferry Road and terminating at its junction with the Timaru–Dunedin State Highway at the north-eastern corner of Lot 14, Block VI, Waitaki Survey District, being a distance of 12 miles 20 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 151911, and thereon coloured red.

Dated at Wellington this 1st day of November 1956.
