Notice of Intention to Assign Place Names by the New Zealand Geographic Board

Pursuant to section 12 of the New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946, notice is hereby given of the intention of the New Zealand Geographic Board to assign the names set out in the first column of the Schedule hereto to the respective places and features set out and described opposite those names in the second and third columns of the said Schedule.

Pursuant to section 13 of the said Act, any person objecting to any such proposed name may at any time within the period of three months from the date of publication of this notice in the Gazette give to the Secretary of the Board, care of the Department of Lands and Survey, P.O. Box 8003, Government Buildings, Wellington, notice in writing of his objection, setting out the grounds of the objection. If no objection is received by the Board within the aforesaid period of three months, the Board's decision as to any of the said proposed names will be final.

Roberton Island In Bay of Islands. Alternative name for Motuarohia Island. Instead of Robinsons.
Dunphail Bluffs Block II, Newcastle Survey District. National Grid Reference 6065.
Rotokawa Lake Block XVI, Tatua Survey District. Instead of Rotokaua.
Tarapatiki Locality, post office, Maori block Block X, Waiau Survey District. Instead of Terapatiki.
Matapehe Peak and trig. station Trig. "P". On the western boundary of Block VI, Tennyson Survey District. This name replaces "McLarens Peak" in order to avoid confusion with "Mount McLaren" known as Trig. "R" on the north-western boundary of Block VIII, Tennyson Survey District.
Spenser Bay Block III, Arapawa Survey District. Instead of Spencer.
Marino Mountains Between Owen and Maunga Survey Districts and forming the watershed between the Matiri and Owen Rivers to the south and the Wangapeka and Rolling Rivers to the north.
Matapehe Peak and trig. station Trig. "P". On the eastern boundary of Block X, Whangamoa Survey District. Replaces "McLarens Peak".
Arthur's Pass On the Southern Alps between the Bealey and Otira Rivers. Instead of "Arthur".
Arthur's Pass Locality, post office, railway station Block VI, Bealey Survey District. Instead of "Arthur Pass".
Climax Col Humboldt Survey District. Between headwaters of Joe River and Olivine Ice Plateau.
Apirana Peak Caples Survey District. In Darran Mountains about 2 miles north of Lake Adelaide.

NOTEβ€”All names of alpine features are approved subject to their identification on maps.
