Police Station at Gisborne Declared a Police Jail
PURSUANT to section 41 (1) of the Penal Institutions Act 1954, the Minister of Justice hereby declares the area of land used as a police station at Gisborne and the buildings thereon to be a police jail.

Time and Place of Election by Fire Insurance Companies to Fill an Extraordinary Vacancy on the Fire Board for the Wellington Urban Fire District

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Fire Services Act 1949, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby appoints 12 noon on Monday, 27 August 1956, as the time, and the offices of the Council of Fire and Accident Underwriters' Associations, 97 The Terrace, Wellington, as the place for the holding of a meeting of representatives of the insurance companies carrying on business in New Zealand to elect a member to the Fire Board for the Wellington Urban Fire District.

Import Control Exemption Notice (No. 5) 1956

PURSUANT to regulation 15 of the Import Control Regulations 1938,* the Minister of Customs hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. (1) This notice may be cited as the Import Control Exemption Notice (No. 5) 1956.
    (2) This notice shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of August 1956.

  2. Goods of the classes specified in the First Schedule hereto, imported from and being the produce or manufacture of any country other than the countries specified in the Second Schedule hereto, are hereby exempted from the requirement of a licence under the said regulations.

  3. The exemption from the requirement of a licence under the said regulations in respect of the goods of the classes set forth in the Third Schedule hereto, included in the exempting notices shown in that Schedule, is hereby withdrawn.
