WAITARA BOROUGH COUNCIL

Result of Poll

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Waitara, taken on the 27th day of June 1956, on the proposal of the Waitara Borough Council to borrow the sum of £15,000 for the purpose of meeting the balance of the cost of erecting a War Memorial Hall:

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 192.
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 286.
Informal votes were 24.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

MAKARA COUNTY COUNCIL

Titahi Bay Community Hall Loan 1956, £8,000—Result of Poll

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers in the Titahi Bay Special Rating Area of the County of Makara, taken on the 30th day of June 1956, on the proposal of the Makara County Council to borrow the sum of £8,000 for the purposes of providing additions and improvements to the Titahi Bay Community Hall:

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 54.
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 77.
Informal votes, 2.

I therefore declare that the proposal was lost.

Hop Marketing Committee Election (Notice No. Ag. 6133)

PURSUANT to clause 11 of the Hop Marketing Regulations 1939, notice is hereby given that the roll of those persons qualified to vote for the election of five producers’ representatives to the Hop Marketing Committee will be open for inspection during ordinary office hours at the following places, viz., Department of Agriculture, Head Office, Wellington, and at Nelson; also at the following post offices, viz., Motueka, Upper Moutere, Wakefield, and Nelson.

The roll will be available for public inspection for a period of seven days from 25 July 1956.

Nomination forms may be obtained on application to any of the above offices, or from the Returning Officer, Department of Agriculture, Nelson. Nominations must be in the hands of the Returning Officer not later than noon on the 8th day of August 1956.

Plant Declared a Noxious Weed in Rangitikei County
(Notice No. Ag. 6135)

PURSUANT to the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, the Director-General of Agriculture, acting under a delegation from the Minister of Agriculture for the purposes of the said Act, hereby publishes the following special order made by the Rangitikei County Council on the 12th day of July 1956.

SPECIAL ORDER

THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by section 5 (1) of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, the Rangitikei County Council hereby resolves and declares by way of special order that Thorn Apple (Datura stramonium), be a noxious weed within the County of Rangitikei, and that such special order shall take effect on 1 August 1956.
