Plants Declared Noxious Weeds in Makara County (Notice No. Ag. 6119)
PURSUANT to the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, the Director-General of Agriculture, acting under a delegation from the Minister of Agriculture for the purposes of the said Act, hereby publishes the following special order made by the Makara County Council on the 11th day of May 1956.
SPECIAL ORDER
THE Council of the County of Makara hereby resolves by way of special order, pursuant to the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, that
Barberry (Berberis vulgaris)
Bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis)
Blackberry (Rubus fruticosus and Rubus laciniatus)
Burdock (Arctium, any species)
Common Broom (Cytisus scoparius)
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare)
Goat's rue (Galega officinalis)
Gorse (Ulex, any species)
Greater bindweed (Calystegia sepium)
Heath (Erica lusitanica and Erica arborea)
Hemlock (Conium maculatum)
Milk thistle or variegated thistle (Silybum marianum)
Nasella tussock (Nasella trichotoma)
Ragwort (Senecio jacobaea)
Saffron thistle (Carthamus lanatus)
Star thistle (Centaurea calcitrapa)
Sweetbrier (Rosa eglanteria syn. Rosa rubiginosa)
Tauhinu or New Zealand cottonwood (Cassinia leptophylla or Cassinia fulvida)
Tutsan (Hypericum androsaemum)
Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes)
Winged thistle (Carduus tenuiflorus and Carduus pycnocephalus)
Woolly Nightshade (Solanum auriculatum)
are hereby declared noxious weeds in the whole of the County of Makara, and this special order is in substitution of any previous special order relating to noxious weeds, and any such previous special order is hereby revoked and shall cease to have any effect after the coming into force of this special order.

Plants Declared Noxious Weeds in the Borough of Ohakune (Notice No. Ag. 6123)
PURSUANT to the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, the Director-General of Agriculture, acting under a delegation from the Minister of Agriculture for the purposes of the said Act, hereby publishes the following special order made by the Ohakune Borough Council on the 24th day of May 1956.
SPECIAL ORDER
THAT, pursuant to section 3 of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, the Ohakune Borough Council hereby resolves, by way of special order, that the following plants be, and are hereby declared to be noxious weeds within the district of the Ohakune Borough Council as from 1 June 1956:
(a) Barberry (Berberis vulgaris and Berberis darwinii).
(b) Milk Thistle or Variegated Thistle (Silybum marianum).
(c) Sweetbrier (Rosa eglanteria syn. Rosa rubiginosa).
(d) Lupin (Lupinus arboreus).

Election of Members of Board of Appeal Under Public Service Act 1912, as Representatives of Officers of Public Service
HEREBY give notice that, in accordance with the Public Service Act 1912 and regulations made thereunder, an election for two members of the Public Service Board of Appeal was held on the 28th day of May 1956, and the following votes were recorded:

Revoking Declaration of Main Highways and Declaring Public Highways to be Main Highways
PURSUANT to section 11 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:
-
(1) The public highways described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highways.
(2) The Order in Council made on the 10th day of August 1949,* declaring (inter alia) the said highway to be a main highway, is hereby consequentially amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule as relates to the said highway.
(3) The Order in Council made on the 13th day of November 1934†, declaring (inter alia) the said highway to be a main highway, is hereby consequentially amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said highway. -
The public highways described in the Second Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be main highways within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.

This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette.
FIRST SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 5
ALL that public highway in the Patangata County declared as the Porangahau Post Office Main Highway as described in the Order in Council dated 10 August 1949.*
All that public highway declared as the Nuhaka-Waikokopu Main Highway as described in the Order in Council dated 13 November 1934†.
SECOND SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 5
Makaramu Beach: All that public highway in the County of Patangata, commencing at its junction with the Dannevirke-Waipukurau via Porangahau Main Highway at the south-eastern corner of Porangahau 2B 9B 10 Block, Block XI, Porangahau Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction to the north-western corner of Porangahau Town Section 30; thence generally in an easterly direction to its junction with the foreshore public highway in Block XII, Porangahau Survey District, being a distance of 4 miles, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 150392 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
Nuhaka-Mahia: All that public highway in the Wairoa County, commencing at its junction with the Gisborne-Wairoa via Morere State Highway in the Township of Nuhaka, and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction to the junction of a public highway known as Opoutama Road, near the Waikokopu Railway Station in Block X, Nuhaka Survey District, and thence generally in a north-easterly direction to the south-eastern corner of Block 4, Kopuawhara Crown Grant District, Block III, Mahanga Survey District; thence in a south-easterly direction to a point at the right bank of the Kopuawhara Stream, opposite the western boundary of Mahanga No. 2F Block; thence generally in a south-westerly direction, terminating at its junction with a public highway known as the Mahia to Table Cape Road at the south-eastern corner of part Subdivision 6, Kaiwaitau Block, Block IV, Mahanga Survey District, being a distance of 13 miles 13 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 150394 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

NOTICE is hereby given that the land described in the Schedule hereto has been acquired under the Reserves and Domains Act 1953 as a reserve for the preservation of native flora.
