Setting Aside Maori Freehold Land as a Maori Reservation

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government House at Wellington this 9th day of May 1956

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE GOVERNMENT IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 439 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby sets apart the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto as a Maori reservation as a church site for the common use of the adherents of the Ratana Church.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE GOVERNMENT IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 131 of the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby amends the Order in Council dated the 14th day of March 1922, and published in Gazette, 16 March 1922, Volume I, page 676, and deposited in the Land Registry Office at Wellington under No. 966, exempting Stravon Road, Torridon Road, Burgie Lane (now known as Bruges Avenue), The Quadrant, Fife Lane, Tarves Lane, and portion of Wayside, Miramar, City of Wellington, from the provisions of section 117 of the Public Works Act 1908, subject to a condition as to the building line, by cancelling the condition as to the building line imposed by the said Order in Council, in so far as it affects Lot 6, Block III, D.P. 6175, being part Section 11, Watts Peninsula District, situated in the City of Wellington, all certificate of title, Volume 372, folio 268 (Wellington Land Registry).

Authorising the Laying-off of a Street off Grafton Road in the City of Auckland

HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE GOVERNMENT IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 186 of the Municipal Corporations Act 1954, His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby authorises the Auckland City Council to permit the laying-off of the proposed street described in the Schedule hereto at a width of less than 66 ft., but not less than 40 ft.

THAT proposed street in the North Auckland Land District, City of Auckland, containing by admeasurement 17·6 perches, more or less, being part Lots 4 and 5 of a subdivision of part Allotment 7 of Section 3, Suburbs of Auckland.

Authorising the Laying Off of a Street Off Tay Street in the Borough of Mosgiel, Subject to a Condition as to the Building Line

At the Government House at Wellington this 16th day of May 1956

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE GOVERNMENT IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 186 of the Municipal Corporations Act 1954 and to section 125 of the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby authorises the Mosgiel Borough Council to permit the laying off of the proposed street described in the Schedule hereto at a width for the parts of its length of less than 66 ft. but not less than 50 ft., subject to the condition that no building or part of a building shall at any time be erected on Lots 2 to 22 (both inclusive) of a subdivision of the land shown edged green on a plan marked P.W.D. 149857, referred to in the said Schedule, within a distance of 40 ft. from the centre line of the said street.

PURSUANT to section 16 of the New Zealand Army Act 1950, His Excellency the Administrator of the Government has been pleased to approve of the following promotions of officers of the Emergency Force:

Lieutenant B. E. Hatton to be temp. Captain while employed as H.Q. Captain, 10th Company, R.N.Z.A.S.C. Dated 12 March 1956.

Lieutenant A. J. Cockroft to be temp. Captain while employed as O.I.C., Composite Platoon, 10th Company, R.N.Z.A.S.C. Dated 21 March 1956.

PURSUANT to section 16 of the New Zealand Army Act 1950, His Excellency the Administrator of the Government has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Army:

HEADQUARTERS, 1ST INFANTRY BRIGADE

Brigadier J. Conolly, D.S.O., E.D., relinquishes the appointment of Commander, 1st Infantry Brigade, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List. Dated 31 March 1956.

Captain J. L. Ryan, 1st Battalion, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), relinquishes the appointment of S.C., H.Q., 1st Infantry Brigade, and is appointed D.A.A. and Q.M.G., H.Q., 1st Infantry Brigade. Dated 1 April 1956.

Lieutenant R. E. Harvison, 1st Battalion, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), relinquishes the appointment of Intelligence Officer, H.Q., 1st Infantry Brigade, and ceases to be seconded. Dated 31 March 1956.

Lieutenant C. S. Baker, 1st Battalion, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), relinquishes the appointment of Brigade H.Q. Company Commander, and ceases to be seconded. Dated 31 March 1956.

Lieutenant P. R. Raue, 1st Battalion, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own) is seconded to Headquarters, 1st Infantry Brigade, and is appointed Intelligence Officer. Dated 1 April 1956.

Lieutenant D. J. Napier, 1st Battalion, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), is seconded to Headquarters, 1st Infantry Brigade, and is appointed Brigade H.Q. Company Commander. Dated 1 April 1956.
