Boundaries of County of Clutha and County of Southland Altered

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

WHEREAS, pursuant to the Local Government Commission Act 1953, the Local Government Commission has approved as final a scheme bearing date the 2nd day of August 1955 providing for the area described in the Schedule thereto to be excluded from the County of Southland and included in the County of Clutha:

And whereas it is deemed expedient to give effect to the final scheme as hereinafter appearing:

Now, therefore, pursuant to the Local Government Commission Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares:

1. That, as on and from the 1st day of April 1956, the area described in the First Schedule hereto shall be excluded from the County of Southland and included in the County of Clutha:

2. That the boundaries of the Counties of Clutha and Southland as so altered shall be those set forth under the respective headings in the Second Schedule hereto:

3. That the area added as aforesaid to the County of Clutha shall be included in the Clinton Riding of that county:

4. That the boundaries of the Clinton Riding as so altered shall be those set forth in the Third Schedule hereto:

5. That the alteration of boundaries of the said counties hereinbefore made shall be deemed to have been effected under the Counties Act 1920.

FIRST SCHEDULE

AREA EXCLUDED FROM COUNTY OF SOUTHLAND AND INCLUDED IN COUNTY OF CLUTHA

ALL that area of land in the Southland Land District, Southland County, and bounded as follows:

Commencing at the junction of the Southland County boundary as described in Gazette No. 35 of 3 June 1954, page 949, and the southern boundary of part Lot 2 on plan numbered 3410 and deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Invercargill, at peg No. XIII; thence north-westerly and north-easterly generally and south-easterly along the southern, western, and northern boundaries of Lot 2 on the said plan numbered 3410, to and across the Mokoreta River to the north-western boundary of Lot 4 on plan numbered 3412 and deposited as aforesaid; thence north-easterly and south-easterly along the north-western and north-eastern boundaries of Lot 4 aforesaid, to a point on the Southland County boundary aforesaid at peg No. XLII; thence south-westerly by a right line to Trig. D (Catlin’s Cone) in Block II, Rimu Survey District; thence north-westerly generally along the watershed through Marquee and Flower Pot to peg No. XII, on the eastern boundary of Lot 3 on the said plan numbered 3412; thence south-westerly generally along the south-eastern boundary of Lot 3 aforesaid, and the south-eastern boundary of Lot 2 on the said plan numbered 3410, to peg No. XIII, the point of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE

COUNTY OF CLUTHA

ALL that area situated in the Land Districts of Otago and Southland bounded by a line commencing on the sea coast at the mouth of Long Beach Creek in Block XIII, Tautuku Survey District; thence generally north-easterly along the sea
