Notice of Final Decision of New Zealand Geographic Board re Assigning of Place Names

WHEREAS, pursuant to section 12 of the New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946, notice was given on the 8th day of December 1955 of the intention of the New Zealand Geographic Board to assign certain names set out in the first column of the Schedule attached to the said notice to the respective places and features set out and described opposite those names in the second and third columns of the said Schedule:

And whereas, pursuant to section 13 (1) of the said Act, no objections have been received to such of the proposed names as are set out in the first column of the Schedule hereto:

Now, therefore, pursuant to section 15 of the said Act, notice is hereby given that on and after the 9th day of June 1956 there shall be assigned the names set out in the first column of the Schedule hereto to the respective places and features set out and described opposite those names in the second and third columns of the said Schedule.

SOUTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT
Ohui Railway siding Block II, Rangitaiki Lower Survey District, on Murupara Branch Railway. To replace siding name Waiohau.
Russek Creek Block III, Thames Survey District, tributary of Waikato Stream, flowing north-easterly from near Trig. Station 2101.
GISBORNE LAND DISTRICT
Kahuiti Stream Block XIV, Moanui Survey District. Joins Kahunui Stream south-west of Trig. Station A. Instead of Little Kahunui.
HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT
Bull Rocks In Hawke Bay. Bearing 62° 14′ distant 4·16 miles from Portland Island Lighthouse.
Lachlan Submarine ridge In Hawke Bay. Approximate position 39° 30′ south 177° 50′ east.
Maraenui Locality In the City of Napier. The southernmost portion of the city bounded towards the east by the old Tutaekuri river-bed, towards the west by Riverbend Road, and towards the north by the area known as Marewa.
Patuwahine Trig. station Trig. B1 in Block XI, Waitara Survey District. The name Patuwahine applied to Trig. Stations D and M in Block VIII, Mohaka Survey District, is hereby cancelled.
Price Shoal In Hawke Bay. Bearing 104° 30′ distant 2·04 miles from Portland Island Lighthouse.
Scott Shoal In Hawke Bay. Bearing 64° distant 2·6 miles from Portland Island Lighthouse.
Sisters Rocks In Hawke Bay. Bearing 35° distant 3·13 miles from Portland Island Lighthouse.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT
Horokiri Stream Rises near Wainui Trig. Station in Block IV, Paekakariki Survey District, and flows generally south-westerly into Porirua Harbour. Instead of Horokiwi.
Kaitoke Trig. Station Block XV, Akatarawa Survey District. Instead of Mangaroa.
Pattison Cape Block I, Tawirikoko Survey District, Chatham Islands. Previously recorded as Paterson, Patterson, Pattisson, etc.
MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT
Renwick Locality Block XIII, Cloudy Bay Survey District. Instead of Renwicktown.
NELSON
Anawera Stream Block XII, Kaiteriteri Survey District. Flows south-easterly into Stephens Bay.
Dummy Bay Block XII, Kaiteriteri Survey District. Northern portion of bay south of Trig. Station A.
Stephens Bay Block XII, Kaiteriteri Survey District. Adjacent to and south-west of Dummy Bay.
Tapu Bay Block XII, Kaiteriteri Survey District. South-west of Stephens Bay and forming the generally southern boundaries of Section 96 and a foreshore reserve.
WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT
Alamein Peak Block XVI, Waitangitaona Survey District. Also in Block VII, Torlesse Survey District, Canterbury. On Main Divide, one mile north of Mount Livingstone.
Cassino Peak Block XVI, Waitangitaona Survey District. Also in Block VII, Torlesse Survey District, Canterbury. On Main Divide, half a mile north of Mount Livingstone.
Dolphin Peak Block XI, Tyndall Survey District, Also in Block I, Torlesse Survey District, Canterbury. On Main Divide between Eric Twins and Dennistoun Pass.
Nansen Glacier Block XVI, Waitangitaona Survey District. On western slopes of Main Divide between Takrouna and Alamein Peaks.
Takrouna Peak Block XVI, Waitangitaona Survey District. Also in Block II, Torlesse Survey District, Canterbury. On Main Divide, one and a half miles north of Mount Livingstone.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT
Alamein Peak Block VII, Torlesse Survey District. Also in Block XVI, Waitangitaona Survey District, Westland. On Main Divide, one mile north of Mount Livingstone.
Cassino Peak Block VII, Torlesse Survey District. Also in Block XVI, Waitangitaona Survey District, Westland. On Main Divide, half a mile north of Mount Livingstone.
Clover Glacier Block II, Tyndall Survey District. On south face of Trirnne Peak.
Dolphin Peak Block I, Torlesse Survey District. Also in Block XI, Tyndall Survey District, Westland. On Main Divide, between Eric Twins and Dennistoun Pass.
Rollover Glacier Block II, Tyndall Survey District. On crest of Cloudy Peak Range around Tauroa Peak.
Takrouna Peak Block II, Torlesse Survey District. Also in Block XVI, Waitangitaona Survey District, Westland. On Main Divide, one and a half miles north of Mount Livingstone.
Veil Col Block IX, Ramsay Survey District. At head of Veil Stream leading into unnamed tributary of Frances River.
Veil Peak Block II, Tyndall Survey District. At end of south-western ridge of Trirnne Peak.
Veil Stream Block II, Tyndall Survey District. In deep valley flowing from Cloudy Peak Range into Havelock River at point one and a half miles above Eric Hut.
