PURSUANT to the authority conferred on me by section
301 of the Justices of the Peace Act 1927, I, Lieutenant-
General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-
General of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that
James Alexander Cavanagh, being an officer in the service of
the Crown holding the office of Senior Forest Ranger, State
Forest Service, Golden Downs, is authorised to take and
receive statutory declarations under section 301 of the Justices
of the Peace Act 1927.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General
this 13th day of February 1956.

1950, His Excellency the Governor-General has been
pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions,
transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of
the New Zealand Army:

THE ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY
Regular Force
Major P. F. King, D.S.O., M.C., from the Reserve of
Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, is granted a
short-service commission for a period of eighteen months,
with the rank of Major, for duty with United Nations
Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan. Dated 11
January 1956.
Captain (temp. Major) P. W. F. Joplin relinquishes the
temp. rank of Major. Dated 16 January 1956.
Captain R. H. Smith to be temp. Major. Dated 16 January
1956.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) H. P. T. Willis, from the 1st
Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A., is granted a short-service com-
mission for a period of eighteen months, with the rank of
Captain, for duty as a Military Observer with United Nations
Palestine Truce Supervision Organisation. Dated 11 January
1956.
