Pursuant to the Local Government Loans Board Act 1926, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby consents to the borrowing by the local authorities mentioned in the Schedule hereto by way of loan of the whole or any part of the respective amounts specified in that Schedule.

Boundaries of Counties of Marlborough and Sounds Altered

WHEREAS, pursuant to the Local Government Commission Act 1953, the Local Government Commission has approved as final a scheme bearing date the 16th day of August 1955 providing for the area described in the Schedule thereto to be excluded from the County of Sounds and included in the County of Marlborough:
And whereas it is deemed expedient to give effect to the final scheme as hereinafter appearing:
Now, therefore, pursuant to the Local Government Commission Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares—
(1) That as on and from the 1st day of March 1956 the area described in the First Schedule hereto shall be excluded from the County of Sounds and included in the County of Marlborough.
(2) That the boundaries of the Counties of Marlborough and Sounds as so altered shall be those set forth under the respective headings in the Second Schedule hereto.
(3) That the area added as aforesaid to the County of Marlborough shall be included in the Spring Creek - Picton Riding of that County.
(4) That the boundaries of the Spring Creek - Picton Riding of the County of Marlborough as so altered shall be those set forth in the Third Schedule hereto.
(5) That the alteration of the boundaries of the said counties hereinbefore made shall be deemed to have been effected under the Counties Act 1920.
FIRST SCHEDULE
AREA EXCLUDED FROM COUNTY OF SOUNDS AND INCLUDED IN COUNTY OF MARLBOROUGH
ALL that area of land in Sounds County in the Marlborough Land District containing by admeasurement 32,400 acres bounded by a line commencing at the mean high-water mark at Karaka Point, Queen Charlotte Sound, in Block VII, Arapawa Survey District; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of Waikawa Maori Reserve to Trig. Station B (Mount Piripiri) and along the summit of the watershed through Mount Robertson to a point bearing north 45 degrees west of the southern point of Whites Bay; thence along a right line to the said southern point of Whites Bay; thence northerly, easterly, southerly, and northerly generally by the mean high-water mark around Whites Bay, Robin Hood Bay, Port Underwood, Fighting Bay and intervening bays and inlets to a point in Island Bay in line with the south-western boundary of Section 4, Block XIV, Arapawa Survey District; thence north-westerly generally by a right line across a road and by the south-western boundaries of Section 4, Block XIV, and Section 3, Block XIII, Arapawa Survey District, across a road to the mean high-water mark of Queen Charlotte Sound; thence westerly generally by the mean high-water mark around Missionary Bay, Hitaua Bay, Maraetai Bay, Kahikatea Bay, Whatamongo Bay and intervening bays and inlets to the point of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF COUNTY OF MARLBOROUGH
ALL that area in the Marlborough Land District bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station P (Matapehe or McLaren Peak) in Block VI, Tennyson Survey District; thence proceeding south-easterly generally along the summit of the Opouri Range and the summit of the northern watershed of the Kaiuma River to Black Point (Whataaruhe); thence easterly along Mahau Sound to the north-western corner of Section 21, Pelorus Sound District; thence south-easterly generally along a right line to Iwituaoroa Point, the south-eastern corner of a block of land granted to Joseph Toms; thence easterly generally along Queen Charlotte Sound to Karaka Point in Block VII, Arapawa Survey District; thence easterly generally by the mean high-water mark around Whatamongo Bay, Kahikatea Bay, Maraetai Bay, Hitaua Bay, Missionary Bay, and intervening bays and inlets to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 3, Block XIII, Arapawa Survey District; thence south-easterly generally by a right line across a road and by the south-western boundaries of Section 3, Block XIII, and 4, Block XIV, Arapawa Survey District, to and across a road to the mean high-water mark in Island Bay; thence southerly, northerly, westerly, and southerly generally by mean high-water mark around Fighting Bay, Port Underwood, Robin Hood Bay, Whites Bay, and intervening bays and inlets, and continuing southerly generally by mean high-water mark to the middle of the mouth of the Awatere River; thence up the middle of that river to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 30, Block VIII, Clifford Bay Survey District; thence to and along that boundary along the middle of a public road forming the north-western boundary of Section 31, along the middle of a public road fronting Sections 29 and 28, along the south-western and north-western boundaries of 4 of Block I, the south-western boundaries of 6 of Block II, 15 of Block II, and 14 of Block II, along the south-eastern boundaries of 14 of Block II and 27 of Block II, to Boundary Stream, up the middle of that stream to Maxwell Pass, and down the middle of a tributary of the Taylor River, to the Taylor River, at the base of a hill called The Maori; thence due south to the western side of Taylor Pass Road and southerly generally along that side to the confluence of the Taylor Pass Creek with the Taylor River; thence by that river to the nearest point to the south-western corner of Section 44, of Block I, Omaka District; thence to and along the watershed between the Wairau and Awatere Rivers to its intersection with a right line running from Barefell Pass to Trig. Station Top No. 2 (near Tophouse); thence north-westerly along that line to said Trig. Station Top No. 2; thence along a right line to Ward’s Pass, and along the summit of the range, being the northern watershed of the Wairau River, to Slaty Peak at the source of the Pelorus River; thence down the middle of the said Pelorus River to the Heringa River; thence up the middle of the Heringa River to its source at Trig. Station B, Saddle Hill; thence along the summit of the north-western watershed of the Pelorus River to Trig. Station P, the point of commencement; excluding therefrom the Boroughs of Picton and Blenheim.
BOUNDARIES OF COUNTY OF SOUNDS
All those areas of land above mean high-water mark situated in the Nelson and Marlborough Land Districts, including the mainland and islands lying within an area bounded by a line commencing at a point on the sea coast at Pukerau Point; thence along a right line running due north to its intersection with the parallel of latitude 40° 30' south; thence due east along that parallel of latitude to its intersection with the meridian of longitude 174° 30' east; thence
