Boundaries of City of Lower Hutt and County of Hutt Redefined

PURSUANT to section 26 of the Municipal Corporations Act 1954, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby defines, as set out in the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the City of Lower Hutt, the County of Hutt, and the Wainui-o-mata Riding of the County of Hutt, the previous boundaries having been altered by Order in Council dated 15 February 1955 and published in Gazette, 17 February 1955, No. 12, page 248.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF CITY OF LOWER HUTT

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, situated in Belmont Survey District, bounded by a line commencing at the westernmost corner of Section 16, Hutt District, and proceeding generally north-easterly along the north-western boundaries of Sections 16, 20, 24, 28, and 75, Hutt District to the northernmost corner of Section 75, Hutt District; thence south-easterly and easterly along the northern boundary of Section 75, Hutt District, to its intersection with the eastern side of the Western Hutt Road; thence north-easterly along the eastern side of the Western Hutt Road to the southern boundary of that part of Section 37, Hutt District, granted to Leonard Young by Crown Grant No. 934 (Deeds Index 3/607); thence easterly along the southern boundary of the said part of Section 37, Hutt District, and its production to the western boundary of Section 46, Hutt District; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundaries of Sections 46, 49, 52, 55, and 56, Hutt District; to the north-western corner of the last-mentioned section; thence westerly along the southern boundary of part Subdivision 10 of Section 57, Hutt District, shown on Deposited Plan 12710, to the Wellington-Wairarapa Railway; thence north-easterly generally along the Wellington-Wairarapa Railway to a point due west of the northernmost corner of part Section 64, Hutt District, shown on Survey Office Plan 21084; thence easterly along a right line to and along the northern boundary of part Section 64 aforesaid, across the Main Hutt Road, and again along the northern boundary of part Section 64 aforesaid to the north-eastern corner of that section; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 64, 63, 62, Hutt District, and part of the eastern boundary of Section 61, Hutt District, to the northernmost corner of Section 228, Hutt District; thence in a southerly direction generally along the eastern boundary of Section 228 aforesaid and the eastern and part of the southern boundaries of Section 229, Hutt District, to a point distant 440 links from the south-eastern corner of the last-mentioned section; thence south-easterly generally along the north-eastern boundaries of parts Sections 231 and 232 comprised in certificate of title, Volume 184, folio 177, Wellington Registry, to the northernmost corner of the land shown on Deposited Plan 12561, being subdivision of parts Sections 231 and 232, Hutt District, and Sections 1 and 2, D.P. 983, Block XV, Belmont Survey District; thence in a south-westerly direction generally along the north-western boundary of the land shown on the said Deposited Plan 12561 to its intersection with the northern boundary of Section 1, D.P. 983, Block XV, Belmont Survey District; thence westerly along the northern boundary of Section 1 aforesaid to and along the southern boundary of Section 440, Hutt District, to the westernmost corner of that section; thence along the southern boundary of Section 18s, Waddington Settlement, across Seddon Street, and again along the southern boundary of Section 18s aforesaid and its production across another public road to the north-eastern corner of Lot 1 on Deposited Plan 4581, being portion of Section 21, Lowry Bay District; thence southerly and westerly generally along the eastern and southern boundaries of the said Lot 1 to the westernmost corner of that Lot; thence westerly along a right line to the southernmost corner of Section 225, Hutt District; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 27 and 23, Hutt District, to the northernmost corner of part Lot 3 on D.P. 7866, being a subdivision of part of Section 21, Lowry Bay District; thence easterly, southerly, and westerly along the northern, eastern, and southern boundaries of part Lot 3 aforesaid, to and along the southern boundary of Lot 3 on D.P. 11467, being a subdivision of portion of Section 21, Lowry Bay District, to the eastern boundary of Section 233, Hutt District; thence generally southerly along the eastern boundaries of Sections 238, 239, and 240, Hutt District; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of Section 240 aforesaid to the generally eastern side of Wainui Hill Road; thence southerly generally along the eastern side of that road for distances of 4·39 links, 85·3 links, 144·15 links, and 369·38 links, to a road angle; thence south-westerly along the half-angle intersection to the generally western side of Wainui Hill Road; thence southerly generally along that side of Wainui Hill Road to its intersection with the south-eastern boundary of Section 77, Hutt District, and along that boundary to the southernmost corner of the said Section 77; thence westerly along the southern boundary of that section to its junction with the eastern side of Gracefield Road; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern side of Gracefield Road to its junction with Seaview Road; thence along a right line to the western side of Seaview Road; thence northerly along the western side of Seaview Road to the northern boundary of Section 20, Harbour District; thence westerly along the northern boundary of Section 20, Harbour District, and along the mean high-water mark, being the southern boundary of land reclaimed from Port Nicholson, as shown on S.O. Plan 19810, to the south-western corner of the said reclaimed land; thence northerly along the mean high-water mark forming the western boundary of the said reclaimed land to a point in line with the southern side of Marine Parade, Borough of Petone; thence along a right line to the intersection of the southern side of Marine Parade with the western side of the western branch of

the Hutt River forming the boundary of the Borough of Petone, as described in N.Z. Gazette of 5 July 1888, at page 740, and of 10 March 1910, at page 775; thence northerly and westerly along the eastern and northern boundaries of the Borough of Petone to the westernmost corner of Section 16, Hutt District, the point of commencement.

BOUNDARIES OF COUNTY OF HUTT

All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle and at the mouth of the Waikanae River; thence in an easterly direction generally along the middle of the Waikanae River to and along the eastern side of the North Island Main Trunk Railway to the north-western corner of Subdivision 23 of Ngarara West C Block; thence along the northern boundary of Subdivision 23 aforesaid and its production to the middle of the Waikanae-Reikorangi Road; thence along the middle of that road to and along the middle of Ngatiawa Road, to and along the middle of a branch road through Section 43, Block X, Kaitawa Survey District, to the middle of Ngatiawa River; thence along the middle of the Ngatiawa River to the northern boundary of Ngarara West C 18 Section 2; thence along the northern boundaries of Ngarara West C 18 Sections 2 and 1, the western and northern boundaries of Section 8, and the northern boundary of Section 10, Block III, Akatarawa Survey District, to the north-eastern corner of the last-mentioned section; thence along a right line to the summit of Mount Hector in Block I, Eritonga Survey District; thence in a general southerly direction along the summit of the Tararua and Rimutaka Ranges to the northern boundary of Orongorongo 1A Block, situated in Block IX, Pencarrow Survey District; thence along the last-mentioned boundary to the mean high-water mark of the sea at Palliser Bay; thence southerly, westerly, and northerly along the mean high-water mark of the sea and Port Nicholson to the southern boundary of the Borough of Eastbourne, as described in N.Z. Gazette, 1935, page 1742; thence along the southern, eastern, and northern boundaries of the Borough of Eastbourne aforesaid to the mean high-water mark of Port Nicholson; thence northerly along the mean high-water mark to the southern boundary of the City of Lower Hutt as described in the First Schedule; thence along the southern, eastern, northern, and western boundaries of the City of Lower Hutt to and along the northern boundaries of the Borough of Petone, as described in N.Z. Gazette, 1888, page 740, to the north-eastern corner of Section 78, Horokiwi Road District; thence along the northern boundary of Section 78, aforesaid to its north-western corner; thence northerly generally along the western boundary of Section 39, Maungaraki Settlement, the western boundaries of Subdivisions 3, 6, 4, 5, and 7 of the Maungaraki Native Reserve, the western boundaries of Sections 41 and 40, Normandale Settlement, and the western boundaries of Sections 329, 330, 331, 339, 340, and 343, Hutt District, to the north-western corner of the last-mentioned section; thence along the northern boundary of Section 343 aforesaid, the eastern boundaries of Sections 344 and 348, Hutt District, to the southern boundary of Lot 12 on Deposited Plan 3138; thence along the southern boundaries of Lots 12, 11, 10, and 9 on Deposited Plan 3138, being subdivisions of Section 352, Hutt District, and Sections 39, 37, and 35, Takapu District, to the south-western corner of the last-mentioned lot; thence along the western boundary of Lot 9 aforesaid and the south-western boundaries of Lots 3 and 1 on Deposited Plan 3138, being subdivisions of Sections 33, 31, and 30, Takapu District, to the eastern boundary of Section 99, Block VIII, Paekakariki Survey District; thence along the eastern and northern boundaries of Section 99 aforesaid to the Porirua Harbour; and thence along the shore of Porirua Harbour and the sea coast to a point in the middle of the Waikanae River, the point of commencement; and excluding therefrom the Borough of Upper Hutt, as described in N.Z. Gazette, 1927, page 3287.

BOUNDARIES OF WAINUI-O-MATA RIDING OF COUNTY OF HUTT

All that portion of the County of Hutt bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the north-eastern boundary of the Wellington Waterworks Reserve in Block IX, Rimutaka Survey District, with the eastern boundary of the County of Hutt, as described in the Second Schedule; thence southerly, westerly, and northerly along the boundaries of County of Hutt to the south-eastern corner of Section 34, Harbour District; thence along the eastern boundary of Eastern Bays Riding being the eastern boundaries of Sections 34, 32, and 30, the eastern and northern boundaries of Section 29, all of Harbour District, the eastern boundaries of Lots 82B and 81B as shown on the plan numbered 1541, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Wellington, the southern and eastern boundaries of Lot 47 as shown on the plan numbered 11205, deposited as aforesaid, the eastern boundary of Lot 4 and the southern boundary of Lot 3, both as shown on the plan numbered 12030, deposited as aforesaid, and the western side of Wainui Hill Road to the south-eastern boundary of Section 77, Hutt District; thence along the eastern boundary of the City of Lower Hutt, as described in the First Schedule, to its intersection with the southern boundary of Section 231, Hutt District; thence easterly generally along the southern boundary of Sections 231 and 232, Hutt District, the western and southern boundaries of Section 8, Block XV, Belmont Survey District, and the southern boundaries of Sections 7 and 6, Block VIII, Rimutaka Survey District, to the easternmost corner of the last-mentioned section; and thence along the north-western and north-eastern boundaries of the Wellington Waterworks Reserve to its intersection with the county boundary, the point of commencement.
