Setting Apart Maori Freehold Land as a Maori Reservation

At the Government Buildings at Wellington this 10th day of May 1955
Present:
THE RIGHT HON. K. J. HOLYOAKE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to section 439 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby sets apart the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto for the common use and benefit of the members of the Ngati Hari hapu of the Maniapoto Tribe as a Maori reservation for the purposes of a village site, meeting place, recreation ground, and sports ground.

Exempting Residence Site Licences Nos. 3195 and 6070 (Westport Mining Registry) from the Operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925

PURSUANT to the Coal Mines Act 1925, His Excellency the Governor-General hereby gives the following notice.
NOTICE
THE Residence Site Licences described in the Schedule hereto are hereby exempted from the operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925.
SCHEDULE
(a) All that piece of land containing 5·82 perches, being the balance of that piece of land situate in Block VI, Kawatiri Survey District, commencing at a point on the east side of the Denniston–Burnetts Face Road, 12 chains from the point where the Denniston–Burnetts Face Road crosses the south-east town boundary of the Township of Denniston; thence north-east 200 links; thence south-east 100 links; thence south-west 200 links; and thence north-west along the said road to the commencing point after excluding that area of land containing twenty-six decimal one eight perches (26·18 perches) surrendered on the 6th day of March 1946 under Application No. 1/46, being the balance of the land comprised in Residence Site Licence No. 6070.
(b) All that piece of land containing one rood, situate at Denniston, commencing at a point on the east side of the Denniston–Burnetts Face Road and adjoining Dickenson’s property on the north side, frontage to county road 1 chain by 2½ chains deep, being all the land comprised and described in Residence Site Licence No. 3195.

Declaring Crown Land to be Samoan Land

PURSUANT to section 58 of the Statutes Amendment Act 1944, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto, being Crown land which is not subject to any lease or to any other right, title, estate, or interest vested in any person other than a Samoan, shall be Samoan land within the meaning of Part IX of the Samoa Act 1921, and shall be held by High Chief Mata’afa Faumuina Fiame Mulinu’u II.
SCHEDULE
ALL those pieces or parcels of land containing together an area of twenty-five acres (25 acres), more or less, situated at Lepea in the District of Tuamasaga, described as Parcel 87/19, being Court Grant 813, and Parcels 20, 88/19, and 89/19, being Court Grant 419, all in Flur IV, Upolu, being the whole of the land registered in Volume 1, folio 100, of the Land Register of Western Samoa.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of New Zealand, this 13th day of May 1955.
