Retirements of Officers of the New Zealand Army
PURSUANT to section 16 of the New Zealand Army Act
1950, His Excellency the Governor-General has been
pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions,
transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New
Zealand Army:
HEADQUARTERS 1ST INFANTRY BRIGADE
Captain R. A. Wright, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of
Ranfurly’s Own), relinquishes the appointment of G.S.O. 3,
Headquarters, 1st Infantry Brigade, and ceases to be seconded.
Dated 1 April 1955.
Lieutenant A. P. M. Williams, The Auckland Regiment
(Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), is appointed G.S.O. 3, Head-
quarters, 1st Infantry Brigade, and is seconded. Dated 1
April 1955.
THE ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY
Regular Force
Major R. J. H. Webb is appointed C.O., 3rd Field Regiment,
R.N.Z.A., in addition to his present appointment of G.S.O. 2,
Headquarters, Southern Military District. Dated 1 April
1955.
Captain (temp. Major) R. H. Dyson, E.D., relinquishes the
appointment of C.O., 6th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment,
R.N.Z.A. Dated 31 March 1955.
Captain C. B. Conmey is seconded to the Fiji Military
Forces. Dated 15 April 1955.
Territorial Force
2nd Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A.
Lieutenant-Colonel W. D. Philp, O.B.E., D.S.O., E.D., relinquishes
the appointment of C.O., 2nd Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A.,
and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List,
The Royal N.Z. Artillery, with the rank of Lieutenant-
Colonel. Dated 31 March 1955.
Major E. H. Carew, E.D., is appointed C.O., 2nd Field
Regiment, R.N.Z.A., and is granted the temporary rank of
Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 1 April 1955.
3rd Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A.
Lieutenant-Colonel B. G. MacAvoy, E.D., relinquishes the
appointment of C.O., 3rd Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A., and is
transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal
N.Z. Artillery, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 31
March 1955.
4th Medium Regiment, R.N.Z.A.
Lieutenant-Colonel S. T. Nokan, E.D., is granted an ex-
tension of his appointment as C.O., 4th Medium Regiment,
R.N.Z.A., until 30 June 1955.
5th Light Regiment, R.N.Z.A.
2nd Lieutenant T. P. Samuel, from the Reserve of Officers,
General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, to be 2nd Lieutenant,
with seniority from 5 June 1954. Dated 22 February 1955.
6th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, R.N.Z.A.
Major R. J. Grocfield, E.D., is appointed C.O., 6th Light
Anti-Aircraft Regiment, R.N.Z.A., and is granted the tem-
porary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 1 April 1955.

Major D. P. Wakefield is granted a further extension of
his short-service commission for a period of one year as from
