PURSUANT to section 16 of the New Zealand Army Act
1950, His Excellency the Governor-General has been
pleased to approve of the following appointments, pro-
motions, transfers, resignations, and retirements, of officers
of the New Zealand Army:

COLONELS' LIST

Regular Force

Colonel A. H. Andrews, O.B.E., B.E., to be temp. Brigadier.
Dated 17 November 1954.

THE ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY

Regular Force

Major J. Burns, D.S.O., M.B.E., to be temp. Lieutenant-
Colonel. Dated 13 December 1954.

Territorial Force

3rd Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A.

2nd Lieutenant N. C. McGeorge, from the Reserve of
Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, to be 2nd
Lieutenant, with seniority from 1 June 1954. Dated 13 Febru-
ary 1955.

4th Medium Regiment, R.N.Z.A.

Captain W. W. Waddel, from the Reserve of Officers,
General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, to be Lieutenant,
with seniority from 1 April 1952. Dated 15 February 1955.

2nd Lieutenant F. E. Hopkinson, from the Reserve of
Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, to be 2nd
Lieutenant, with seniority from 1 June 1954. Dated 16
January 1955.

5th Light Regiment, R.N.Z.A.

2nd Lieutenant W. H. McArthur to be Lieutenant. Dated
1 December 1954.

THE CORPS OF ROYAL N.Z. ENGINEERS

Regular Force

Lieutenant-Colonel G. P. Sanders, D.S.O., A.M.I.C.E., is
granted the acting rank of Colonel. Dated 4 January 1955.
Lieutenant-Colonel (Acting Colonel) G. P. Sanders, D.S.O.,
A.M.I.C.E., to be temp. Colonel. Dated 20 January 1955.

THE ROYAL N.Z. CORPS OF SIGNALS

Regular Force

Major E. J. Horwood, M.Sc., is posted to the Retired List.
Dated 14 March 1955.
Major (Acting Lieutenant-Colonel) G. T. Haines to be
temp. Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 14 January 1955.

Territorial Force

1st Divisional Signals Regiment, R.N.Z. Sigs.

Graeme Sherborne Brockett to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated
25 September 1954.

Captain P. F. Sharpley is re-engaged for a period of two
years as from 16 March 1955.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) A. A. Sommerville, B.Sc., to
be Captain. Dated 8 January 1955.
Lieutenant L. C. King is transferred to the Royal N.Z.
Army Ordnance Corps with his present rank and seniority.

2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) Lindsay George Williams, from
the 1st Battalion, The Wellington Regiment (City of Welling-
ton’s Own), to be 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.). Dated 8 Feb-

1st Battalion, The Wellington West Coast and Taranaki

The Hauraki Regiment

Captain J. McC. Graham, from the Reserve of Officers,
General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, to be Captain, with
seniority from 11 November 1954, and is posted to the 1st
Battalion. Dated 1 January 1955.
Lieutenant M. Conder, 1st Battalion, to be Captain. Dated
9 October 1954.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) A. H. Balzer, 1st Battalion,
to be Captain. Dated 9 October 1954.
Lieutenant A. L. Fleming, 1st Battalion, to be temp. Cap-
tain. Dated 9 October 1954.
Lieutenant L. B. Shannon, from the Reserve of Officers,
General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, to be Lieutenant,
with seniority from 17 September 1954, and is posted to the
1st Battalion. Dated 1 January 1955.
Lieutenant W. G. Ranstead, from the Reserve of Officers,
General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, to be Lieutenant,
with seniority from 1 January 1955. Dated 1 January 1955.

The Northland Regiment

Lieutenant R. A. Treanor, from the Hawke’s Bay Regiment,
to be Lieutenant, and is posted to the 1st Battalion, with
seniority from 1 April 1953. Dated 1 February 1955.

The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own)

Captain (temp. Major) W. S. Nicol, E.D., 1st Battalion, is
transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal
N.Z. Infantry Corps, with the rank of Major. Dated 23
December 1954.

The Wellington West Coast and Taranaki Regiment

2nd Lieutenant D. M. Ross, from H.Q., 3rd Infantry Bri-
gade, to be 2nd Lieutenant, and is posted to the 1st Battalion,
with seniority from 28 August 1954, next below 2nd Lieutenant
J. V. Bertrand. Dated 21 February 1955.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) J. Bull, 1st
Battalion, is confirmed.
2nd Lieutenant J. Bull, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the
Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, The Wellington West
Coast and Taranaki Regiment, with the rank of 2nd Lieu-
tenant, with seniority from 19 December 1952. Dated 20
January 1955.

The Hawke’s Bay Regiment

Lieutenant R. A. Treanor, 1st Battalion, is transferred to
the Northland Regiment. Dated 1 February 1955.

The Canterbury Regiment

2nd Lieutenant R. P. Palmer (seconded to H.Q., 3rd Infan-
try Brigade) to be Lieutenant. Dated 6 December 1954.

The Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Regiment

Captain G. K. Chapman, 1st Battalion, is transferred to
the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, The Nelson, Marl-
borough, and West Coast Regiment, with the rank of Captain,
with seniority from 31 March 1952. Dated 13 January 1955.
2nd Lieutenant R. F. B. Older, from the Reserve of Officers,
General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, to be 2nd Lieutenant,
with seniority from 4 July 1953, and is posted to the 1st
Battalion. Dated 1 January 1955.
