Alterations to the Scales of Charges Upon the New Zealand Government Railways

PURSUANT to the Government Railways Act 1949, the New Zealand Railways Commission hereby makes the following alterations to the General Scale of Charges made on the 26th day of March 1952, and published in the Supplement dated the 9th day of April 1952 to the New Zealand Gazette of the 3rd day of April 1952, in force on the New Zealand Government Railways.

The following alterations to the General Scale of Charges shall come into force on 14 November 1954

32. Suburban Fares

Paragraph 1

*Omit* from the first sentence the words “ Dunedin, Ravensbourne, Kensington, Burnside ”.

Paragraph 1, subparagraph (d)

*Omit* this subparagraph.

Suburban Six-trip Bearer Tickets.—9. Add to list of stations between which suburban six-trip bearer tickets will be issued :

Between— And—
Dunedin { Ravensbourne–Evansdale, Mussel Bay – Port Chalmers, and all intermediate
stations and stopping places in each case.
Dunedin .. Kensington–Mosgiel and all intermediate stations and stopping places.
Ravensbourne .. Mussel Bay or Port Chalmers (Upper or Lower station).
Kensington .. Mosgiel.
Burnside .. Caversham.

35. South Island Main Line and Branches

Insert new paragraph 4A :

4A. The following local fares will be charged on the Dunedin – Port Chalmers – Evansdale and Dunedin–Mosgiel lines :

Return tickets will be charged double the single fare and will be issued at attended stations only. All tickets issued under the provisions of this paragraph will be subject to paragraphs 1 and 3 hereof and paragraphs 1, 4, 6, and 7 of regulation 1. In addition trip bearer tickets will be subject to the provisions of regulation 4 and single and return tickets to the provisions of paragraphs 2, 3, and 4 of regulation 32.
