Exempting Residence Site Licence No. 1260 (Westport Mining Registry) from the Operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925

PURSUANT to the Coal Mines Act 1925, His Excellency the Governor-General hereby gives the following notice:

NOTICE

The Residence Site Licence described in the Schedule hereto is hereby exempted from the operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925.

SCHEDULE

RESIDENCE Site Licence No. 1260 (Westport Mining Registry) affecting all that parcel of land containing one rood twenty perches (0 a. 1 r. 20 p.), be the same a little more or less, commencing at a point on a public road where the Westport Coal Company’s pipe line crosses the road and adjoining the section held by the Roman Catholic Church; thence easterly along the Catholic Church boundary 250 ft.; thence northerly along Crown land 66 ft.; thence westerly along Jaspor’s boundary 250 ft.; thence southerly along the public road 60 ft., to the commencing point, and being the whole of the land comprised and described in the said Licence No. 1260.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General this 6th day of October 1954.

PURSUANT to the Naval Defence Act 1913, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve the following appointments, promotions, and terminations of appointments in the Royal New Zealand Navy:

Temporary Commissioned Mechanician Charles W. Norris, B.E.M., service on the active list of officers extended for two years from 19 June 1954.

Temporary Acting Commissioned Ordnance Engineer G. E. Matthews confirmed in rank with original seniority of 1 February 1953.

Commissioned Writer Officer Edward Blakiston promoted to rank of Senior Commissioned Writer Officer and reappointed, to date 1 April 1954.

Mr Robin Dartrey Adams, M.A., B.Sc., entered on a Short Service Commission (Defence Scientific Corps, Naval Section) in the rank of Sub-Lieutenant (Sp) with seniority of 5 April 1954 and appointed H.M.N.Z.S. Philomel, additional, for training to date 5 April 1954.
