The Standards Act 1941—Specification Declared to be a Standard Specification

NOTICE is hereby given that on 10 September 1954 the undermentioned specification was declared to be a standard specification by the Minister of Industries and Commerce pursuant to section 8 of the Standards Act 1941:

Number and Title of Specification: N.Z.S.S. 1217: Four-colour and three-colour letterpress process inks; being B.S. 1480 : 1949.

Price of Copy (Post Free): 2s. 6d.

Applications for copies should be made to the N.Z. Standards Institute, Hamilton Chambers, 201 Lambton Quay (P.O. Box 195), Wellington C. 1.

NEW ZEALAND—NORTH ISLAND—WAITEMATA HARBOUR

Defence and Prohibited Areas Established

Defence Area.—The area extending to a depth of 600 ft. to seaward from the foreshore of the seaward boundaries of R.N.Z.A.F. Station, Hobsonville. North-west limit: Lat. 36° 47′ 25″ S., long. 174° 39′ 04″ E. (approx.); south-east limit: Lat. 36° 47′ 53″ S., long. 174° 40′ 20″ E. (approx.).

Prohibited Anchorage Areas.—(1) The area between a line 057° from position lat. 36° 47′ 20″ S., long. 174° 40′ 26″ E. (approx.) to the opposite shore and a line 000° from the landward end of Hobsonville wharf to the opposite shore.

(2) The area between a line 319° from the landward end of Hobsonville wharf to a distance of 400 ft. from the Herald Island foreshore and a line 319° 900 ft. westward of the first line from the foreshore of R.N.Z.A.F. Station, Hobsonville, to a point 400 ft. distant from the Herald Island foreshore.

The above areas will be marked by notice boards and leading beacons. Mariners are warned that they must not anchor in the above areas.

Notice to Mariners No. 71 of 1954

NEW ZEALAND—NORTH ISLAND—KAWAU ISLAND

Existence of Submarine Cable

Position: Lat. 36° 25′ 30″ S., long. 174° 49′ 57″ E. (approx.).

Details: A submarine cable has been laid from the above position in a 353° direction to the opposite shore.

Remarks: The area half a cable wide on each side of the submarine cable has been marked by white triangular beacons. Anchorage is prohibited in this area.
