Reserve Bank of New Zealand

PURSUANT to section 45 of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Act 1933 (as amended by section 23 of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Amendment Act 1936), the Governor of the Reserve Bank, acting with the authority of the Minister of Finance, hereby gives notice that as from 1 September 1954 the balance to be maintained in the Reserve Bank by each other bank for the time being carrying on business in New Zealand in accordance with the said section 45 shall be not less than the aggregate of 20 per centum of its demand liabilities in New Zealand, and 10 per centum of its time liabilities in New Zealand, as shown in the last preceding monthly return furnished by that bank in accordance with section 46 of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Act 1933.

Notice to Persons Affected by Applications for Licences Under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act 1936

Pharmacy Industry

B. S. Sinel, 176 Cook Street, Howick, has applied for a licence to operate a new pharmacy at corner of Picton and Moore Streets, Howick.

Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor Spirit

M. G. Dippie and R. Terry, Kawerau, have applied for a licence to resell motor spirit from two pumps to be installed on proposed service-station and garage premises on a Crown land site at Kawerau.

W. G. Feek, corner Wills and Devon Roads, Bell Block, New Plymouth, has applied for a licence to resell motor spirit from one pump to be installed on service-station and garage premises at corner of Wills and Devon Roads, Bell Block, New Plymouth.

Smith and Snelgrove Ltd., Bengston Street, Ekatahuna, has applied for a licence to resell motor spirit from one pump to be installed on service-station and garage premises at Bengston Street, Ekatahuna.

Pyne, Gould, Guinness Ltd., Main North Road, Culverden, has applied for a licence to resell motor spirit otherwise than through pumps from store premises at Main North Road, Culverden.

Bunn Bros. Ltd., Matakana Island, Tauranga, has applied for a licence to resell motor spirit from two pumps to be installed on sawmill premises at Matakana Island, Tauranga.

R. F. Hollows, corner Ewings and Onerahi Roads, Whangarei, has applied for a licence to resell motor spirit to marine craft only from one pump to be installed on a jetty in the Town Basin, Whangarei.

H. E., A., and R. F. Bell, Main Road, Waimana, have applied for permission to change the retail selling point of two pumps, 50 yards and 15 yards respectively, to stand together at service-station premises at Main Road, Waimana.

Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should, not later than 9 September 1954, submit any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender. All communications should be addressed to Secretary, Bureau of Industry, C.P.O. Box 2492, Wellington.

IN accordance with the provisions of the Education Act 1914, it is hereby notified that the following have been elected as members of the Education Board of the District of Hawke’s Bay:

For Ward No. 3 (Gisborne Rural): Frank Innes Faram.
For Ward No. 4 (Wairoa): William Smith.

For Ward No. 6 (Napier Urban): Thomas Bayne McDonald.
For Ward No. 7 (Hastings): Edmond Wilder Ormond.
