Declaration of Result of Election of Producers’ Representatives on the Southern Ward of the Otago Raspberry Marketing Committee (Notice No. Ag. 5692)

I, RONALD WILL IRWIN MILLAR, Returning Officer for the purposes of the election of two (2) producers’ representatives to fill the two vacancies on the Southern Ward of the Otago Raspberry Marketing Committee, established by the Otago Raspberry Marketing Regulations 1950, do hereby declare the following producers who have been duly nominated, namely:

Alan Stanley Bathgate, and
Arnold David Paterson.

As the number of candidates nominated does not exceed the number of vacancies to be filled, I therefore declare the said Alan Stanley Bathgate and Arnold David Paterson to be duly elected for appointment to such office.

I, LEONARD IRWIN, Returning Officer appointed under section 9 of the Dairy Board Act 1953, do hereby declare the result of the election to fill an extraordinary vacancy in the South Auckland Ward for a member of the New Zealand Dairy Board, the poll for which closed at 7 p.m. on Thursday, 22 July 1954, to be as follows:

PURSUANT to section 23 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1925, it is hereby notified that the registration of the New Plymouth Public Accountants’ Employees’ Industrial Union of Workers, registered No. 1928, situated at New Plymouth, is hereby cancelled as from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette.

Price Order No. 1560 (Bananas)

PURSUANT to the Control of Prices Act 1947, the Price Tribunal hereby makes the following Price Order:

  1. This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 1560, and shall come into force on the 30th day of July 1954.

  2. (1) Price Order No. 1513* is hereby revoked.

(2) The revocation of the said Order shall not affect the liability of any person for any offence in relation thereto committed before the coming into force of this Order.

APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER

  1. This Order applies with respect to all bananas sold by way of retail in New Zealand.

FIXING MAXIMUM RETAIL PRICES OF BANANAS

  1. (1) The maximum price that may be charged or received by any retailer for any bananas to which this Order applies shall be determined as follows:

(a) With respect to bananas sold at any place within the metropolitan areas of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, or Dunedin as defined in the Schedule hereto or in any of the cities or boroughs of Whangarei, Hamilton, Gisborne, New Plymouth, Stratford, Wanganui, Palmerston North, Napier, Hastings, Blenheim, Nelson, Greymouth, Westport, Timaru, Oamaru, Gore, Balclutha, or Invercargill:
At the rate of 9½d. per pound.

(b) With respect to bananas sold elsewhere in New Zealand at the rate of 10d. per pound.

(2) If in respect of any lot of bananas the price calculated in accordance with the foregoing provisions of this clause is not an exact number of pence or half-pence, the maximum price of the lot shall be computed to the next upward halfpenny.

PROVISIONS FOR SPECIAL PRICES

  1. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the foregoing provisions of this Order, and subject to such conditions, if any, as it thinks fit, the Tribunal, on application by any retailer, may authorize special maximum prices in respect of any bananas to which this Order applies where special circumstances exist, or for any reason extraordinary charges (freight or otherwise) are incurred by the retailer. Any authority given by the Tribunal under this clause may apply with respect to a specified lot or consignment of bananas, or may relate generally to all bananas to which this Order applies sold by the retailer while the approval remains in force.

DUTY IMPOSED ON RETAILERS

  1. Every retailer who offers or exposes for sale in any shop any bananas to which this Order applies shall keep in a prominent position in such proximity to the bananas to which it relates as to be obviously in relation thereto a ticket, placard, or label on which shall be stated in legible and prominent characters the retail price per pound of the bananas.
