Land Reserved in the Land District of North Auckland, and
Posted in the Auckland City Council

Pursuant to the Land Act 1918, the Minister of Lands
hereby sets apart the land described in the Schedule
hereto as a reserve for water conservation purposes, and,
further, pursuant to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953,
vests the said reserve in the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens
of the City of Auckland, in trust, for that purpose.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT

Allotment 146, Otan Parish, situated in Block III, Opahake
Survey District: Area, 1 acre 2 roods, more or less. (S.O.

Bangitaiiki Land Drainage District—Notice of Intention to
Make and Levy General Rates

NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to the
Bangitaiiki Land Drainage Act 1910 and its amendments, to
make and levy, on the unimproved value of all land within the
district constituted under the said Act, the general rates
to meet maintenance costs for the period 1 April 1954 to 31
March 1955, as described in the Schedule hereto.

The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on
30 August 1954, together with the amount of the annually
recurring special rates already made and levied.

The valuation roll of the district will be open for
inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Room 8,
First Floor, Government Buildings, Customs Street West,
Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the Land
Drainage Office of the Ministry of Works at Thornton, near
Whakatane, at all times at which those offices are open for
the transaction of public business.

SCHEDULE

CLASS A: On the unimproved value of all lands classified as
Class A by the arbitrators appointed under section 6 of
the Bangitaiiki Land Drainage Act 1910, sixpence and
fifty-eight one-hundredths of a penny (6·58d.) in the
pound.

CLASS B: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified
as Class B, fourpence and thirty-nine one-hundredths of
a penny (4·39d.) in the pound.

CLASS C: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified
as Class C, twopence and nineteen one-hundredths of a
penny (2·19d.) in the pound.

CLASS D: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified
as Class D, seventy-three one-hundredths of a penny
(0·73d.) in the pound.

Varying a Notice Declaring Parts of a Tribal District to be
Tribal Committee Areas Under the Maori Social and
Economic Advancement Act 1945

Pursuant to section 14 of the Maori Social and Economic
Advancement Act 1945, the Minister of Maori Affairs
hereby varies the notice dated 19 April 1947 and published
in New Zealand Gazette on 24 April 1947, at page 491,
declaring parts of the several tribal districts described in the
Schedule thereto to be tribal committee areas for the purposes
of the said Act by deleting the description in the said
Schedule of the Whangarei Tribal Committee area and
substituting therefor the description in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

WHANGAREI TRIBAL DISTRICT

Ngataratunui Tribal Committee Area

All that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station
1870, in Block III, Purua Survey District; thence proceeding
south-easterly along a right line to Trig. Station B, near the
southern boundary of Block V, Purua Survey District, and a
right line in the direction of Trig. Station O, in Block V,
Whangarei Survey District, to its intersection with the middle
of the Whangarei-Kiripaka Road; thence south-westerly
along a right line to Trig. Station M 2, in Block X, Purua
Survey District; thence northerly along a right line to Trig.
Station 1870, the point of commencement.

Whangarei Tribal Committee Area

All that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig.
Station M 2, in Block X, Purua Survey District; thence
proceeding north-easterly along a right line to a point in the
middle of the Whangarei-Kiripaka Road at its intersection
with a right line between Trig. Station B, near the southern
boundary of Block V, Purua Survey District, and Trig.

Station O, in Block V, Whangarei Survey District; thence
south-easterly along the last-mentioned right line to said
Trig. Station O and a right line to Kirikiri Point, in Block
XV, Whangarei Survey District; thence southerly and
westerly generally along the middle of Parua Bay to and up
the middle of Whangarei Harbour and the middle of the
Mangapai River to its intersection with the middle of the
bridge on the Main North Road; thence north-westerly along
the middle of that road to a point due east of Trig. Station O,
in Block IV, Tangihua Survey District; thence due west to
the said Trig. Station O; thence south-westerly along a right
line passing through Trig. Station B, Hanru, in Block III,
Tangihua Survey District, to its intersection with a right line
between Trig. Station M 2 afore-said, and a point in the
middle of the Tauranga River in line with the production
southward of the eastern boundary of Lot 44, on the plan
numbered 8548, deposited in the office of the District Land
Registrar at Auckland, being part of Walton's Grant; thence
northerly along the last-mentioned right line to Trig. Station
M 2, the point of commencement.

Notice of Intention to Take Land for Better Utilization in
Blocks XXVI and XXIX, Town of Frankton

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of the Public Works Act 1928, to take the
land described in the Schedule hereto for better utilization;
and notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so
required to be taken is deposited in the post office at Queenstown,
and is there open for inspection; and that all persons
affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have
any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set
forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty
days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister
of Works at Wellington.

Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the
Purposes of the Transport Act 1949, Section 36

Pursuant to section 36 of the Transport Act 1949, the
Minister of Transport hereby declares the area described
in the Schedule hereto to be a closely populated locality for
the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person
driving any motor vehicle on any road therein shall be
subject to the maximum speed limit of thirty miles an hour
fixed by the said section.

SCHEDULE

Situated within Rangitikei County

All that area adjacent to Marton Borough consisting of
that portion of Curls Bridge—Upper Tutemui Main Highway
No. 366, commencing at its intersection with the northern
boundary of Marton Borough and terminating at a point
5 chains measured generally in a northerly direction along
the said highway from the commencing point.

Revoking Portion of a Warrant Declaring a Zone of Parking
Restriction in Gisborne Borough

Pursuant to regulation 3 of the Traffic Sign Regulations
1937, as amended by the Traffic Sign Regulations 1937,
Amendment No. 1, the Minister of Transport hereby revokes
that portion of the Warrant dated the 12th day of June 1951*
approving the application made by the Gisborne Borough
Council for a declaration of a zone of parking restriction in
part of Peel Street, Gisborne Borough.
