PURSUANT to section 15 of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve the following appointments, confirmation of appointment, extensions of commissions, promotion, transfers, cancellations of commissions, terminations of commissions, and resignations of officers of the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

REGULAR AIR FORCE
GENERAL DUTIES BRANCH
Appointment

Helge Hall TORGERSEN (77345) is granted a commission for a period of three years with the rank of Flight Lieutenant, to be followed by a period of four years in the Air Force Reserve. Dated 2 June 1954.

Extension of Commission

Flight Lieutenant William Adino NEWENHAM, D.F.C., p.s.a. (75099), is granted an extension of his commission for a period of two years, to be effective from 28 July 1954.

Cancellations of Commissions

The commissions of the undermentioned Acting Pilot Officers (on prob.) are cancelled:
Robert Norman KOSKELA (76050). Dated 21 May 1954.
Anthony Charles TIMINGS (816763). Dated 2 June 1954.

EDUCATION BRANCH
Transfer and Appointment

Flying Officer Donald COOK, D.F.C. (77326), is transferred from the General Reserve and is granted an appointment for a period of five years with the rank of Flying Officer and with seniority as from 1 June 1952, to be followed by a period of four years in the Air Force Reserve. Dated 1 June 1954.

Extensions of Commissions

Squadron Officer Thelma Mary LAWSON (70335) is granted an extension of her commission for a period of one year. Dated 1 January 1953.

Flight Lieutenant (temp.) Neville Batchelor COLLINS (130544) is granted an extension of his commission for a period of one year, to be effective from 1 October 1954.

Flight Lieutenant (temp.) David Julian BARNSTON (130703) is granted an extension of his commission for a period of eight months. Dated 10 May 1954.

Promotion

Flight Lieutenant (temp.) Neville Batchelor COLLINS (130544) is granted the temporary rank of Squadron Leader. Dated 1 June 1954.

Warrant Officer Ian Dudley McLELLAN is granted a commission for a period of four years with the rank of Flying Officer. Dated 17 June 1954.

The commission of Pilot Officer Stanley Kelvin CLEMENT, B.A., is terminated. Dated 27 May 1954.

Appointment

Noel Ager MACKAY, B.E.(Mech.), A.M.I.(Mech.E.), M.S.A.E. (133917), is granted a commission in the Education Branch for a period of four years with the rank of Flying Officer (on prob.) and with seniority as from 4 June 1952. Dated 4 June 1954.

Transfer

Flight Lieutenant Theo Charles RALFE, B.Sc. (72871), is transferred from the Education Branch of the Regular Air Force to the Active Reserve for a period of four years. Dated 2 March 1954.

Termination of Commission

The commission of Squadron Leader Lionel Recklaw RENOLDS, D.F.C. (130119), is terminated. Dated 4 May 1954.

GENERAL RESERVE
Relinquishment

Flying Officer (temp. Flight Lieutenant) Reginald John ATKINSON (133447) ceases attachment to the Air Training Corps and relinquishes the temporary rank of Flight Lieutenant. Dated 31 May 1954.

Appointed

PURSUANT to the Waterfront Industry Act 1953, the Minister of Labour hereby appoints the following persons to be the Port Conciliation Committee for the Port of Whangarei for a term expiring on the 31st day of May 1955:

Nicholas Allan Murphy, Chairman; and
Harold Samuel Beehre, Deputy Chairman; and
John Armitage, William Ewart Aspden, and Ernest Leese (nominated by the New Zealand Port Employers’ Association Incorporated); and
John Alexander MacLeod, Henry William Menefy, and Clark Waetford (nominated by the Whangarei Longshoremen’s Industrial Union of Workers).
