Termination of Appointment in Royal New Zealand Navy

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has, pursuant to section
7 of the Naval Defence Act 1913, accepted the resignation
of Lieutenant Leslie Graeme Armstrong from the active
list of the Royal New Zealand Navy. He is to be placed on
the retired list of officers of the Royal New Zealand Navy
to
date 4 June 1954.

Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, Resignations, and
Retirements of Officers of the New Zealand Army

Pursuant to section 16 of the New Zealand Army Act
1950, His Excellency the Governor-General has been
pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions,
transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New
Zealand Army:

1st INFANTRY BRIGADE

With reference to the notice published in the N.Z. Gazette
No. 69, dated 3 December 1953, relative to Captain F. C.
Preston, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly's
Own), for 'Dated 3 November 1953', substitute 'Dated
22 June 1953'.

3rd INFANTRY BRIGADE

Brigadier E. A. McPhail, D.S.O., M.C., relinquishes the
appointment of Commander, 3rd Infantry Brigade, and is
transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, with the
rank of Brigadier. Dated 31 March 1954.

2nd Lieutenant R. P. Palmer, The Canterbury Regiment,
is appointed I.O., H.Q., 3rd Infantry Brigade, and is seconded.
Dated 14 May 1954.

Captain (temp. Major) N. R. Ingle, M.V.O., relinquishes
the part-time appointment of 2 i/c., 1st Divisional Signals
Regiment, R.N.Z. Sigs., and is appointed C.O., 1st Divisional
Signals Regiment, R.N.Z. Sigs., in addition to his present
appointment of D.A.Q.M.G. (Movements and Quartering),
Army Headquarters. Dated 1 April 1954.

The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly's Own)

relinquishes the temporary rank of Captain and is transferred
to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, The Hauraki
Regiment, with the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from
5 February 1950. Dated 30 April 1954.

The Wellington West Coast and Taranaki Regiment

Lieutenant-Colonel C. N. Armstrong, M.C., E.D., relinquishes the appointment of C.O., 1st Battalion, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal
N.Z. Infantry Corps, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.
Dated 31 March 1954.

The Canterbury Regiment

Lieutenant-Colonel J. R. Williams, D.S.O., relinquishes the
appointment of C.O., 1st Battalion, and is transferred to the
Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry
Corps, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 31 March
1954.

Lieutenant R. J. Wilson, D.C.M., 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z.
Infantry Corps, with the rank of Lieutenant. Dated 29 April
1954.

2nd Lieutenant R. P. Palmer, 1st Battalion, is seconded
to H.Q., 3rd Infantry Brigade. Dated 14 May 1954.

The Otago and Southland Regiment

Lieutenant-Colonel A. Ross, M.C., relinquishes the appointment of C.O., 1st Battalion, and is transferred to the Reserve

is granted a short-service commission for a period of 4½ years
as from 17 May 1954 in the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority
