(6) Special arrangements have now been made to fit H.M. submarines with a second steaming light. The forward steaming light will be fitted on a special jack staff in the forepart of the vessel about 6 ft. above the casing, while the after light will continue to be fitted on the conning tower. The vertical separation in some cases will be less than 15 ft.
The overtaking light will be fitted on a special ensign staff in the stern of the submarine.
(7) Until all submarines have been modified, mariners are cautioned that they may expect to see some submarines with the arrangement of lights described in paragraph (5) above.

Notice to Persons Affected by Applications for Licences Under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act 1936
Pharmacy Industry
N. R. W. Devcich, Great North Road, Henderson, has applied for a licence to operate a pharmacy in Great North Road (next door to post office), Henderson.
E. C. Kuegler, care of Whangaparaoa Pharmacy, Stanmore Bay, has applied for a licence to operate a new pharmacy at corner of Hurstmere Road and Anzac Street, Takapuna, Auckland.
F. P. Blackmore, 17 Euston Street, Riccarton, Christchurch, has applied for a licence to operate a new pharmacy at Riccarton Road (near Clyde Road), Riccarton, Christchurch.
Price Order No. 1553 (Cocoa)
PURSUANT to the Control of Prices Act 1947, the Price Tribunal hereby makes the following Price Order:

This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 1553, and shall come into force on the 28th day of May 1954.

(1) Price Order No. 1522* is hereby revoked.
(2) The revocation of the said Order shall not affect the liability of any person for any offence in relation thereto committed before the coming into force of this Order.
APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER
- This Order applies with respect to all cocoa, except “Van Houten’s” sold in New Zealand.
FIXING MAXIMUM PRICES OF COCOA TO WHICH THIS ORDER APPLIES
Wholesalers’ Prices
- (1) Subject to the following provisions of this clause, the maximum price that may be charged or received by any wholesaler (which term in this order shall be deemed to include a manufacturer selling to a retailer) for any cocoa to which this Order applies shall be the appropriate price set out in the Schedule hereto.
(2) The prices fixed by the foregoing provisions of this clause are fixed subject to the continuance of the practice in the cocoa trade with respect to cash and other discounts and with respect to freight arrangements existing immediately prior to the coming into force of this Order.
Retailers’ Prices
- (1) Subject to the following provisions of this clause, the maximum price that may be charged or received by any retailer for any cocoa to which this Order applies shall be the appropriate price set out in the Schedule hereto.
(2) If in respect of any lot of cocoa sold by a retailer the maximum price calculated in accordance with the foregoing provisions of this clause is not an exact number of pence or halfpence, the maximum price of the lot shall be calculated to the next upward halfpenny.
GENERAL
- Notwithstanding the provisions of this Order, the maximum price that may be charged by any wholesaler or by any retailer for cocoa to which this Order applies, bought by the wholesaler or by the retailer before the date of coming into force of this Order and unsold by him at that date, shall not exceed the appropriate price authorized pursuant to the Control of Prices Act 1947, to be charged immediately before that date. In the case of cocoa to which this Order applies bought by a wholesaler or by a retailer after the coming into force of this Order at the appropriate price authorized pursuant to the Control of Prices Act 1947, to be charged immediately before that date, such cocoa shall not be resold at prices in excess of those so authorized prior to the coming into force of this Order.

Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor Spirit
T. K. Dixon, Stewarts Gully Road, White’s Bridge, Christchurch, has applied for a licence to resell motor spirit from one pump to be installed on garage premises at Stewarts Gully Road, White’s Bridge, Christchurch.
Henshaw and Henshaw, 33–35 Barnard Street, Timaru, has applied for a licence to resell motor spirit from one pump to be installed on garage premises at 33–35 Barnard Street, Timaru.
A. F. Hodges, Retreat Road, Waikiwi, Invercargill, has applied for a licence to resell motor spirit from one pump to be installed on garage premises at Retreat Road, Waikiwi, Invercargill.
P. R. Carter, 1 Hamilton Road, Papatoetoe, Auckland, has applied for permission to take over from East Tamaki Dairy Company, motor-spirits retail licence for two pumps at Main Road, East Tamaki, and establish a service station at the said address.
Motor Sales and Service Ltd., Medway Street, Gore, has applied for permission to change the retail selling point of one pump from garage premises in Medway Street to new premises in Irk Street, Gore.
J. F. Wilton, Fox Street, Featherston, has applied for permission to change the retail selling point of one pump from garage premises, Fox Street, to a new site on corner of Waite Street and Main Road, Featherston.
R. E. Loane, corner Great South Road and Huia Street, Otahuhu, Auckland, has applied for permission to change the retail selling point of two pumps from above address to a new site directly opposite to proposed new premises in Albion Lane, Otahuhu, Auckland.
Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should, not later than 10 June 1954, submit any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender. All communications should be addressed to Secretary, Bureau of Industry, C.P.O. Box 2492, Wellington.

PROVISION FOR SPECIAL PRICES
- Notwithstanding anything in the foregoing provisions of this Order, and subject to such conditions, if any, as it thinks fit, the Tribunal, on application by any wholesaler or retailer, may authorize special maximum wholesale or retail prices in respect of any cocoa to which this Order applies where special circumstances exist, or for any reason extraordinary charges (freight or otherwise) are incurred by the wholesaler or retailer. Any authority given by the Tribunal under this clause may apply with respect to a specified lot or consignment of cocoa or may relate generally to all cocoa to which this Order applies sold by the wholesaler or retailer while the approval remains in force.
