The Animals Protection (Canada Goose) Warrant 1954

PURSUANT to the Animals Protection and Game Act 1921–22, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby declare:

  1. This Warrant may be cited as the Animals Protection (Canada Goose) Warrant 1954.

  2. This Warrant shall take effect on the day following the date of its notification in the Gazette.

  3. The Canada Goose (Branta canadensis) shall be included in the Second Schedule (Imported Game) to the Animals Protection and Game Act 1921–22 in respect of the Southern Lakes Acclimatization District.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 18th day of December 1953.

Cancelling the Appointment of a Member of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council and Appointing a Member of the Said Council

WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the 8th day of July 1952 and published in the Gazette of the 10th day of July 1952 at page 1187,

Sir John Andrew Charles Allum, C.B.E., of Auckland, Company Director, as representing the Municipal Association of New Zealand (Incorporated), was appointed to be a member of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council:

And whereas the said Sir John Andrew Charles Allum has resigned from membership of the said Council:

Now, therefore, pursuant to section 3 of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act 1941, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby cancel the appointment of the said Sir John Andrew Charles Allum to be a member of the said Council, and hereby appoint

Kenneth Ewart Luke, Esquire, of Wellington, Civil Engineer, as representing the Municipal Association of New Zealand (Incorporated)

To be a member of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council.

Appointing a Member of the Patea Harbour Board

WHEREAS it is provided by section 27 of the Harbours Act 1950 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) that if any constituent district or combined district fails at any election to elect the required number of representatives the Governor-General may, by Warrant under his hand, appoint such qualified persons as he thinks fit to be the representatives of that district in lieu of those who ought to have been elected, and the persons so appointed shall hold office in all respects as if they had been duly elected in conformity with the said Act:

And whereas it is provided by the said Act that one member of the Patea Harbour Board shall be elected by the electors of the Otoia Subdivision.

And whereas at the elections held on the 31st day of October 1953 the electors of the Otoia Subdivision failed to elect a member to the said Board.

Now, therefore, pursuant to section 27 of the said Act, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint as a representative of the electors of the Otoia Subdivision

Alfred Benjamin Muggeridge

to be a member of the Patea Harbour Board to fill the vacancy caused by the before-mentioned failure to elect.

Revocation of Warrant for Convening General Courts-martial

To: The Chief of the Air Staff for the time being of the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

WHEREAS I am empowered by the Royal New Zealand Air Force Act 1950 to authorize you from time to time as occasion may require to convene General Courts-martial for the trial of any person subject to the said Act who is charged with an offence for which such person may be tried by court-martial and to confirm the findings and sentences of such courts-martial (excepting the proceedings which I direct you or which you think fit so to do to transmit to the Judge Advocate General in order that he may forward them to the Minister of Defence to lay the same before me for my decision thereupon) and also to authorize you to direct your Warrant to any officer under your command not below the rank of Squadron Leader, granting to him the like powers:

And whereas, by Warrant dated the 16th day of July 1945 published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 49 of the 19th day of the same month at page 926, authority as aforesaid was granted to you:

And whereas I have executed a further Warrant in substitution thereof:

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, do hereby cancel and revoke the said Warrant dated the 16th day of July 1945 and all Warrants issued thereunder.

Warrant for Convening General Courts-martial

To: The Chief of the Air Staff for the time being of the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Royal New Zealand Air Force Act 1950, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, do hereby authorize you, from time to time as occasion may require, to convene General Courts-martial for the trial of any person subject to the said Act who is charged with any offence for which that person may be tried by court-martial whether such offence was committed before or after the date of this Warrant or of your appointment to the above-mentioned command; and I do hereby further authorize you to confirm the proceedings of such courts-martial (including the proceedings reserved for your confirmation or other decision under the delegated authority hereinafter mentioned) and to cause any sentence thereof to be put in execution according to law:

And I do further authorize you to direct your Warrant to any officer under your command not below the rank of Squadron Leader, giving him a general authority to convene General Courts-martial for the trial of any person subject to the said Act as may be for the time being under or within the limits of his command who is charged with an offence for which that person may be tried by court-martial whether the offence was committed before or after the date of the warrant directed to such officer or of the appointment of any such officer to his office or command and also in respect of the proceedings of such courts-martial (excepting the proceedings which you in your discretion direct him to reserve for your confirmation or other decision or the proceedings which he thinks fit so to do) to exercise the powers of a confirming officer according to law:

I also hereby authorize you in any case in which you think fit so to do to transmit the proceedings of any general court-martial whether convened by you or under the delegated authority hereinbefore mentioned to the Judge Advocate General in order that he may forward them to the Minister of Defence, who is to lay the same before me for my decision thereupon:

And for executing the several powers, matters, and things herein expressed, this shall be to you and all others whom it may concern, a sufficient warrant and authority.
