NOTICE is hereby given that on 17 March 1954 the under-
mentioned standard specification was revoked by the
Minister of Industries and Commerce pursuant to section 8
of the Standards Act 1941, in conjunction with regulation 8
of the Standards Regulations 1947.
Number and Title of Specification: N.Z.S.S. 103, Cartridge
ridge fuses, for use in railway signalling circuits, being
B.S. 714 : 1936.

NOTICE is hereby given that on 12 March 1954 the under-
mentioned specification was declared to be a standard
specification by the Minister of Industries and Commerce
pursuant to section 8 of the Standards Act 1941:

Part XXI-Licensed vehicles and stands.
NOTE.-This part is additional to those listed in the New
Zealand Gazette No. 48 of 17 July 1952 and No. 13 of
25 February 1954. Inquiries for copies of the current by-law
dealing with the above-mentioned title should be addressed
to the appropriate local authority.

Board of Trade Notice No. 82-Public Inquiry into Import
Duties on Wires and Cables
- The Board of Trade proposes to inquire into and
report upon the question of what rates of import duty should
be imposed under the following tariff items:
Ex Tariff Item 338 (10): Insulated cable and wire.
Tariff Item 357 (10) (a): Wire, metal, plain, n.e.i.; wire
cut to lengths, looped, twisted, or plain, suited for
baling and similar purposes.
Tariff Item 357 (11): Metal cordage, not being gold or
silver, viz. (a) ferrous, (b) non-ferrous.
The present rates of import duty in respect of these
items are:
Tariff Item 338 (10)-
British Preferential: Free.
Most Favoured Nation: 20%.
Switzerland: 20%.
General: 25%.*
Tariff Item 357 (10) (a)-
British Preferential: Free.
Most Favoured Nation: 10%.
General: 10%.*
Tariff Item 357 (11) (a)-
British Preferential: Free.
Most Favoured Nation: 20%.
General: 20%.*
Tariff Item 357 (11) (b)-
British Preferential: Free.
Most Favoured Nation: 20%.
General: 20%.*
- Plus surtax at the rate of nine-fortieths of the amount of duty.

During the course of this inquiry the Board will
consider the desirability of reclassifying the goods in question
for the purposes of the Customs Tariff. In addition, the
Board will consider whether such of the goods in question
as are now subject to import licensing should be exempted
from the requirements of import licensing, and in respect of
such of the goods in question as are already exempt whether
import licensing should be reimposed in respect of any of
them. -
For the purpose of taking evidence on the review of
these tariff items, the Board will hold a public inquiry com-
mencing on Tuesday, 15 June 1954, at 10.30 a.m., in the
Board Room, First Floor, Departmental Building, Stout Street,
Wellington. -
Any person who intends to tender evidence should
comply with the notes for the guidance of witnesses (2nd
edition) which have been approved by the Board. A copy
of these notes may be obtained from the office of any Collector
of Customs or from the undernamed. -
A typewritten statement of the evidence to be tendered,
compiled in accordance with these notes of guidance, should
be lodged with the undernamed on or before Tuesday, 1 June -
Each statement will in general need to be presented
under oath at the public inquiry by the person tendering it.

Infected Area Declared Under the Citrus Canker Regulations
1952 (Notice No. Ag. 5600)
PURSUANT to the Citrus Canker Regulations 1952, it is
hereby notified for public information that the area of
land described in the Schedule hereto has been declared to
be an infected area for the purposes of the said regulations.
SCHEDULE
All that piece of land containing 2 roods 9:29 perches,
being Lots 1 and 2, D.P. 6373, part Section 11, Waitara East
District, and being the whole of the land comprised and
described in Certificate of Title, Volume 157, folio 272, New
Plymouth Registry.

Notice to Persons Affected by Applications for Licences
Under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act 1936
Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor Spirit
B. Symmans, 9 Collins Avenue, Linden, has applied for
a licence to resell motor spirit from one pump to be installed
on proposed service-station and garage premises at 9 Collins
Avenue, Linden.
F. M. Melton, Wellington Road, Marton, has applied
for a licence to resell motor spirit from two pumps to be
installed on proposed service-station and garage premises at
Wellington Road, Marton.
Kurt Alfred Freundlich, 14 Gray Street, Marton, has
applied for a licence to resell motor spirit from two pumps
to be installed on proposed service-station and garage
premises on main highway 3Β½ miles north of Marton.
W. H. Hollis and A. W. Birch, Koutu, have applied
for a licence to resell motor spirit from one pump to be
installed on garage premises at corner of Main Road, Koutu
and Geddes Road frontage on Main Road, Rotorua.
Balfour Motors Ltd., Balfour, has applied for permission
to shift four of the six pumps from their present position
on the main highway at Balfour, to a new site 200 yards
distant on the proposed new highway at Balfour.
Applicants and other persons considering themselves to
be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of
Industry on these applications should, not later than 8 April
1954, submit any written evidence and representations they
may desire to tender. All communications should be
addressed to Secretary, Bureau of Industry, C.P.O. Box 2492,
Wellington.
