Control of Prices Act 1947—Notice of Public Inquiry

NOTICE is hereby given that the Price Tribunal proposes to conduct a public inquiry into the following matters:
(a) What factors having either general effect or effect in particular cases render it desirable in the public interest that prices for goods and services be fixed under the Control of Prices Act 1947.
(b) What factors should be taken into account in determining whether there should be price control over particular goods and services, and what weight should be given to various factors.

Note.—It is not intended at this hearing to consider individual applications for release from price control. These applications will be dealt with following the public inquiry and in the light of the principles laid down by the Tribunal as a result of that inquiry.

The public inquiry will commence on Monday, 29 March 1954, in the Compensation Court Room, Bank of New Zealand (North End Branch) Building, Ballance Street, Wellington, at 10.30 a.m.

Persons and organizations desirous of making submissions to the Tribunal at the inquiry are requested to advise the Secretary of the Price Tribunal, P.O. Box 1320, Wellington, as soon as possible and to indicate in writing the general nature of the submissions which they wish to make.
