Levy on Main Crop Potatoes

PURSUANT to section 15 of the Potato Growing Industry Act 1950, the Potato Board resolves that as from the lst day of March 1953—

  1. The amount of the levy shall be 13s. per ton.
  2. The levy shall be payable in respect of main crop potatoes which are grown in New Zealand in districts other than the North Auckland, South Auckland, Taranaki, or Gisborne Land Districts or in the Waimarino County of the Wellington Land District.
  3. The levy shall be payable on those potatoes described in (2) above which are sold by a grower for purposes of human consumption or for replanting irrespective of quality, size, and condition except—
    (a) Certified seed potatoes packed in containers labelled with the official certification tag of the Department of Agriculture, provided that the maximum certification grading size of such potatoes does not exceed 6.5 ozs.
    (b) Potatoes other than certified seed potatoes which are sold for replanting, provided that the largest tubers do not exceed 4½ ozs. in weight.
    (c) Potatoes sold for shipment to the Pacific Islands and described in the Potato Trade as 'Island Smalls'

Notice to Mariners No. 15 of 1953

NEW ZEALAND—NORTH ISLAND—WELLINGTON HARBOUR

Amendment to Chart N.Z. 50

(1) Position: Pt. Jerningham Lt. Lat., 41° 17' 09" S.;
long., 174° 48' 12" E.

Details: (a) the sounding 01, 159° distant 2.6 cables from the above light is to be expunged.
(b) Insert soundings 44, 162½° distant 2.8 cables, and 24, 165½° distant 2.4 cables, from the above light in each case.
(c) Amend fathom lines accordingly. The 6-fathom line now extends from the letter 'P' in Pt. Jerningham to enclose the sounding 44; (b) above.

(2) Position: Lat., 41° 17' 25" S.; long., 174° 49' 16".5 E.

Details: (a) A rock symbol thus + with a danger line is to be inserted in the above position in place of the beacon removed by former notice N.Z. 8 of 1953.
(b) The sounding 15 close S. of the above position is to be expunged and a depth of 55 inserted.
(c) The sounding 55, close W. of the above position is to be expunged and a depth of 11 inserted.
(d) The soundings 3 and 12, close N. and N.E. respectively of the above position are to be expunged and depths of 72, 022° distant 0.4 cables, and 23, 084° distant 0.5 cables, from the above position are to be inserted.
(e) Amend fathom lines accordingly. The 10-fathom line now passes close to the rock referred to in (a) above.

(3) Table of Depths at Wharves:

Details: In the above tables depths at Fryatt Quay are to be 25–26 ft.

(4) Reclamation at head of Evans Bay:

Details: Insert the words 'Reclamation in Progress' along the drying line from the 'Sports Ground' on the W. shore eastward to the peninsula bearing the description 'Chy.'
