Public Trust Office Act 1908, and its Amendments—Election to Administer Estates
NOTICE is hereby given that the Public Trustee has filed in the Supreme Court an election to administer in respect of the several estates of the persons deceased whose names, residences, and occupations (so far as known) are hereunder set forth:

Board of Trade Notice No. 75—Public Inquiry Into Import Duties on Metal Window Frames

The Board of Trade proposes to inquire into and report upon the question of what rates of import duty should be imposed on Tariff Item 375 which reads as follows: “Window sashes, or frames, metal”.
The present rates of import duty in respect of this item are:
- British Preferential: 20%. Plus surtax at the rate of nine-fortieths of the amount of duty in respect of goods imported from Ireland (except Northern Ireland), Union of South Africa, India, Pakistan, and Canada.
- General: 45%. Plus surtax at the rate of nine-fortieths of the amount of duty.

During the course of this inquiry the Board will consider the desirability of reclassifying the goods in question for the purposes of the Customs Tariff. In addition, the Board will consider any representation which may be made in favour of the re-imposition of import licensing over all or any of the goods in question.

For the purpose of taking evidence on the review of this tariff item, the Board will hold a public inquiry commencing on Tuesday, 16 February 1954, at 10.30 a.m., in the Board Room, First Floor, Departmental Building, Stout Street, Wellington.

Any person who intends to tender evidence should comply with the notes for the guidance of witnesses (2nd edition) which have been approved by the Board. A copy of these notes may be obtained from the office of any Collector of Customs or from the undernamed.

A typewritten statement of the evidence to be tendered, compiled in accordance with these notes of guidance, should be lodged with the undernamed on or before Tuesday, 2 February 1954. Each statement will in general need to be presented under oath at the public inquiry by the person tendering it.

Board of Trade Notice No. 76—Public Inquiry Into Import Duties on Paper Patterns for Costumes

The Board of Trade proposes to inquire into and report upon the question of what rates of import duty should be imposed on paper patterns for costumes which are included in Tariff Item 449 (2) (d).
This item is subject to 3% primage duty from all sources.

During the course of this inquiry the Board will consider the desirability of re-classifying the goods in question for the purposes of the Customs Tariff. In addition, the Board will consider whether the goods in question should be exempted from the requirements of import licensing.

For the purpose of taking evidence on the review of this part of the tariff item, the Board will hold a public inquiry commencing on Tuesday, 2 March 1954, at 10.30 a.m., in the Board Room, First Floor, Departmental Building, Stout Street, Wellington.

Board of Trade Notice No. 77—Public Inquiry Into Import Duties on Imitation Jewellery

The Board of Trade proposes to inquire into and report upon the question of what rates of import duty should be imposed on imitation jewellery which is included in Tariff Item 239 (2).
The present rates of import duty are:
- British Preferential: 20%.
- Australian Agreement: 25%.
- Most-Favoured Nation: 45%.
- General: 50% plus surtax at the rate of nine-fortieths of the amount of duty.

During the course of this inquiry the Board will consider the desirability of re-classifying the goods in question for the purposes of the Customs Tariff. In addition, the Board will consider whether such of the goods in question as are now subject to import licensing should be exempted from the requirements of import licensing, and in respect of such of the goods as are already exempt, whether import licensing should be re-imposed.

For the purpose of taking evidence on the review of this part of the tariff item, the Board will hold a public inquiry commencing on Tuesday, 23 March 1954, at 10.30 a.m., in the Board Room, First Floor, Departmental Building, Stout Street, Wellington.

Any person who intends to tender evidence should comply with the notes for the guidance of witnesses (2nd edition) which have been approved by the Board. A copy of these notes may be obtained from the office of any Collector of Customs or from the undernamed.
