Alterations to the Scales of Charges Upon the New Zealand Government Railways

PURSUANT to the Government Railways Act 1949, the New Zealand Railways Commission hereby makes the following alterations to the General Scale of Charges made on the 26th day of March 1952, and published in the Supplement dated the 3rd day of April 1952 to the New Zealand Gazette of the 9th day of April 1952, in force on the New Zealand Government Railways.

GENERAL SCALE OF CHARGES

The following alterations to the General Scale of Charges shall come into force on the 11th day of October 1953

PASSSENGERS

LOCAL FARES AND REGULATIONS

  1. Suburban Fares

Paragraph 1

Omit from the first sentence the words “Wellington, Kaiwharawhara”.

Paragraph 1, subparagraph (b)

Omit this subparagraph and substitute the following:

(b) WELLINGTON DISTRICT

Between— And—
Napier . . Hastings, and intermediate stations.

Paragraph 9

Omit this paragraph and substitute the following:

Suburban Six-trip Bearer Tickets.—9. Suburban trip bearer tickets, second class, available for six single journeys, will be issued for travel between the same points as provided for in paragraph 1 of this regulation and also between the following points:

Between— And—
Wellington . . { Kaiwharawhara - Upper Hutt, and intermediate stations and stopping-places.
Wellington . . Ava-Taita, and intermediate stations and stopping-places.
Wellington . . Plimmerton and intermediate stations and stopping-places.
Kaiwharawhara . . Lower Hutt.

  1. North Island Main Line and Branches

Paragraph 7

Omit this paragraph and heading and substitute the following:

LOCAL FARES : WELLINGTON - PAEKAKARIKI AND WELLINGTON - HUTT LINES

  1. The following local fares will be charged on the Wellington - Paekakariki and Wellington - Taita – Upper Hutt lines:

Return tickets will be charged double the single fare and will be issued at attended stations only.

The tickets will be subject to the provisions of regulations 1 (paragraphs 1, 4, 6, and 7), 32 (paragraphs 2, 3, and 4), and 34 (paragraph 12).
