Plants Declared Noxious Weeds in the Borough of Whangarei

Pursuant to the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, the Director-General of Agriculture, acting under a delegation from the Minister of Agriculture for the purposes of the said Act, hereby publishes the following special order made by the Whangarei Borough Council on the 12th day of August 1953.
SPECIAL ORDER
THAT in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 3 of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950 and all other powers enabling it, the Whangarei Borough Council hereby resolves by way of special order that the plants mentioned in the Schedule hereto be and are hereby declared noxious weeds within the borough of Whangarei.

Gorse (Ulex europaeus).
Hemlock (Conium maculatum).

Plant Declared a Noxious Weed in Stratford County (Notice No. Ag. 5506)
Pursuant to the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, the Director-General of Agriculture, acting under a delegation from the Minister of Agriculture for the purposes of the said Act, hereby publishes the following special order made by the Stratford County Council on the 18th day of September 1953.
SPECIAL ORDER
THAT, pursuant to the provisions of section 3 (1) and also section 4 of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, the Stratford County Council resolves by way of special order that Barberry (Berberis darwinii) shall be deemed to be a noxious weed within the County of Stratford and, further, that such special order shall take effect as from 1 October 1953.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan
Pursuant to the Local Bodies' Loans Act 1926, the following notice received by the Minister of Finance from the Chairman, Bay of Islands Harbour Board, is hereby published.

Bay of Islands Harbour Board
Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Bay of Islands Harbour District, taken on the 28th day of August 1953 on the proposal of the Bay of Islands Harbour Board to borrow the sum of one hundred and ninety-eight thousand pounds (£198,000) for the purpose of
(1) Erecting a new wharf and other miscellaneous harbour works at or in the vicinity of Opua in the Bay of Islands County; and
(2) Dredging the Veronica Channel at Bay of Islands.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 2,066. The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 288.
Informal, 18.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Releasing Land from the Provisions of Part I of the Maori Land Amendment Act 1936 (Mangonui Development Scheme)
Pursuant to subsection (2) of section 4 of the Maori Land Amendment Act 1936, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby revokes, so far as it affects the land described in the Schedule hereto, a certain notice, dated the 16th day of September 1930 and published in New Zealand Gazette No. 66 of 25 September 1930 at page 2850, whereby the provisions of subsection (3) of section 23 of the Maori Land Amendment and Maori Land Claims Adjustment Act 1929 (now Part I of the Maori Land Amendment Act 1936) were applied to, inter alia, the said land.

Releasing Land from the Provisions of Part I of the Maori Land Amendment Act 1936 (Reureu Development Scheme)
Pursuant to subsection (2) of section 4 of the Maori Land Amendment Act 1936, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby revokes, so far as it affects the land described in the Schedule hereto, a certain notice dated the 25th day of January 1938 and published in New Zealand Gazette No. 5 of 27 January 1938 at page 120, whereby the provisions of Part I of the Maori Land Amendment Act 1936 were applied to, inter alia, the said land.
SCHEDULE
All that area of land containing 3 roods 9.17 perches, more or less, being part of the land known as Reureu 1, Section 17B 1, situate in Block 1, Oroua Survey District, and being part of the land comprised in certificate of title, Volume 306, folio 261, Wellington Registry; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.A. 65/16, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Maori Affairs at Wellington, and thereon hatched red.
