(2) In any case in which brokerage calculated in accordance with the provisions of the preceding section of this Rule is less than 5s. then a brokerage of 5s. may be charged.

(3) The above rates in respect of sales of Shares, Stock, Debentures, and of Debenture Stock already issued are in all cases chargeable to both buyer and seller.

(4) Subject to the provisions of Rule 81 (b), all Stamp Duty and Transfer fees shall be paid by the purchaser.'

That Rule 53 be amended by adding thereto the following words: 'A member may not act as principal for the purpose of evading these Rules, nor adopt any other procedure for a like purpose'.

That Rule 123 be amended by deleting from the second paragraph thereof the words: 'At any time within the period of five years immediately preceding the sending of any such communication as aforesaid'.

Poukawa Drainage Area-Notice of Intention to Make and Levy General Rates

NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to the Swamp Drainage Act 1915 and its amendments, to make and levy, on the unimproved value of all land within the Poukawa Drainage Area constituted under the said Act, the general rates described in the Schedule hereto, such respective rates being for the purpose of meeting maintenance costs for the period 1 April 1953 to 31 March 1954.

The amount of the general rates will be payable in one sum on 31 August 1953, together with the amount of the annually recurring special rates already made and levied.

The valuation roll of the area will be open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Room 8, First Floor, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, and copy of same may be inspected at the office of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Post Office Buildings, Napier, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business.

SCHEDULE

GENERAL RATES

CLASS A: On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act 1928, eightpence and thirty-four one-hundredths of a penny (8·34d.) in the pound.

CLASS B: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class B, one penny and thirty-nine one-hundredths of a penny (1·39d.) in the pound.

CLASS C: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C, twenty-eight one-hundredths of a penny (0·28d.) in the pound.

Varying a Notice Declaring Parts of the Northern Ngatiruanui Tribal District to be Tribal Committee Areas Under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945

PURSUANT to subsection (2) of section 14 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945, I, Thomas Clifton Webb, acting for the Minister of Maori Affairs, hereby vary the notice dated the 17th day of April 1950 and published in the Gazette on the 1st day of June 1950 at page 732, declaring parts of the Ngatiruanui Tribal District to be Tribal Committee areas by substituting for the name 'Taiporohenui Tribal Committee Area' appearing in the Schedule thereto, the name 'Taiporohenui-Ngataki Tribal Committee Area.'

Revoking a Warrant and Portion of a Warrant Excluding Streets and Roads from Limitation as to Speed and Excluding Portions of Roads from the Speed Limitation Imposed by the Transport Act 1949, Section 36

PURSUANT to section 36 of the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby revokes those portions of the Warrant dated the 21st day of December 1936,* and that Warrant dated the 8th day of December 1939,+ which apply to the roads described in the First Schedule hereto, and hereby excludes the portions of roads described in the Second Schedule hereto from limitation as to speed imposed by the said section.

Papakura-Hunua Main Highway No. 402 (all that portion from its junction with Marne Road to the eastern boundary of Papakura Town District, a distance of approximately 65 chains).

Papakura-Clevedon Main Highway No. 83 (all that portion from its junction with Marne Road to the eastern boundary of Papakura Town District, a distance of approximately 1 mile 5 chains).

SECOND SCHEDULE

Situated within Papakura Borough:

Papakura-Hunua Main Highway No. 402 (all that portion commencing at the southern boundary of Papakura Borough and terminating at a point 3 chains measured in an easterly direction from the junction of Laurie Avenue with the said main highway).

Papakura-Kawakawa via Clevedon Main Highway No. 804 (all that portion commencing at the north-eastern boundary of Papakura Borough and terminating at a point 3 chains measured in a north-easterly direction from the junction of Bunnythorpe Road with the said main highway).

Settlement Road (all that portion commencing at the eastern boundary of Papakura Borough and terminating at the junction of the said road with the Papakura-Hunua Main Highway No. 402).

Beach Road (all that portion commencing at the western boundary of Papakura Borough and terminating at a point 3 chains measured in a south-westerly direction from the junction of the said road with the Auckland-Hamilton State Highway No. 7).

Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit

Omakau Motors, Ltd., Main Road, Omakau, has applied for permission to shift three pumps from their present site on Main Road, Omakau, to a new site on the corner of the main roads to Ranfurly and Poolburn, a distance of half a mile.

O. V. and E. M. Scholz, corner Cameron Road and First Avenue, Tauranga, have applied for permission to change the retail selling point of four pumps by shifting them from their present position at service-station premises on the corner of Cameron Road and First Avenue, Tauranga, to a new site at proposed service-station and garage premises on the opposite side of the road in First Avenue, Tauranga.

Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should, not later than 13 August 1953, submit any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender.
