Licensing Control Commission—Awarding Compensation to
Owners and Licensees
(Part of Westland Licensing District)
TAKE notice that, pursuant to the provisions of the
Licensing Amendment Act 1948, the Commission has
awarded the following amounts of compensation to the under-
mentioned owners and licensees consequent upon cancellation
of the publicans' licences in respect of the premises shown
below:
'Clydesdale ' Hotel, at Ross. Robert William Parker,
care of Joyce and Taylor, Solicitors, Greymouth, as
owner/licensee, the sum of £570.
'Commercial ' Hotel, at Ross. Gordon David Elley,
care of Guinness and Kitchingham, Solicitors, Grey-
mouth, as owner/licensee, the sum of £2,605.
'Courthouse ' Hotel, at Kumara. James Sydney
Trowbridge, care of Joyce and Taylor, Solicitors,
Greymouth, as tenant/licensee, the sum of £230.
'Dundalk ' Hotel, at Kumara. Ellen McDonald, care
of Murdoch, James, and Roper, Solicitors, Hokitika,
as owner/licensee, the sum of £300.
'Helvetia ' Hotel, at Goldsborough. Russell Alexander
Gibb, ' Helvetia ' Hotel, Goldsborough, as owner/
licensee, the sum of £650.
'Junction ' Hotel, at Dillmanstown. William Athol
Barcock, care of Hannan and Seddon, Solicitors,
Greymouth, as owner, the sum of £560.

'McFarlane's' Hotel, at Kumara. Ellen Rubina
McFarlane, care of Murdoch, James, and Roper,
Solicitors, Hokitika, as owner/licensee, the sum of
£100.
'Three Mile ' Hotel, at Houhou. William Roy Burns
and Veronica Mary Lundquist, care of Hannan and
Seddon, Solicitors, Greymouth, as owners, the sum
of £900.
And further take notice that no person (other than the
above-named persons and other than a person claiming a
lien as mortgagee) shall be entitled to receive the compensation
or make any claim in respect of the compensation awarded
unless notice in writing of such claim, stating whether com-
pensation is claimed by him as owner or as licensee, is lodged
with the Commission within six weeks of the 21st day of
May 1953, being the date of publication of this notice in
the Gazette; and further take notice that any mortgagee
from an owner or licensee shall, upon giving written notice
to the Commission within one month after the 21st day of
May 1953 aforesaid, have a lien on the amount of compensation
payable to the mortgagor for the amount of the mortgage
debt, and any interest or other charges owing to the mortgagee
under or in respect of the mortgage.
