✨ Government Appointments and Land Notices
- The said sum shall be repaid as follows:—
(a) By twenty equal payments of one thousand nine hundred and nine pounds seven shillings and ten pence (£1,909 7s. 10d.) one of such payments to be made at the end of every half-year commencing from the date on which the said sum is raised. Each such half-yearly payment shall be applied first in payment of interest computed at the rate of four pounds (£4) per centum per annum on the amount of principal for the time being outstanding at the beginning of each such half-year in respect of the said sum and the balance of such half-yearly payment in reduction of such principal.
(b) By a payment at the end of the tenth year from the date of the raising of the said sum of a sum equal to the amount to which the principal of the said sum has been reduced in accordance with the preceding paragraph (a) hereof after payment of the aforesaid twenty half-yearly payments. - The payments referred to in clause 3 hereof shall be made in New Zealand and no such payment shall be made out of loan-moneys.
- The rate payable for brokerage, underwriting, and procurement fees in respect of the raising of the said sum or any part thereof shall not in the aggregate exceed one-half per centum of any amount raised.
- No moneys shall be borrowed under this consent after the expiration of two years from the date hereof.

Appointment of Members of Waterfront Industry Tribunal
Pursuant to the Waterfront Industry Emergency Regulations 1946, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby appoint—

to be Chairman of the Waterfront Industry Tribunal; and Thomas Bloodworth, of Auckland; and Kenneth Ewart Luke, of Wellington
to be Members of the Tribunal,
all the aforesaid appointments to be for a term of one year commencing on the 11th day of May 1953.

The Honourable Sir David Stanley Smith, Mr. George William Clinkard, and Mr. Donald Ian Macdonald,
all of Wellington, to be members of the Board of Trade for a term of three years commencing on the 17th day of May 1953, and on the like recommendation I do hereby reappoint the said the Honourable Sir David Stanley Smith as the Chairman of the Board.

Land Reserved in the North Auckland Land District

Whereas by section 167 of the Land Act 1948, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time set apart as a reserve, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral lease or pastoral occupation licence, any Crown land for any purpose, which, in his opinion, is desirable in the public interest, and notice thereof shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette:
Now, therefore, pursuant to section 167 of the said Act, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby reserve, subject to the reservations and conditions imposed by section 59 of the Land Act 1948, the land in the North Auckland Land District described in the Schedule hereunder written, for general education purposes.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT
ALL that area situated in Block XII, Purua Survey District, containing by admeasurement 11 acres 2 roods 13 perches, more or less, being Lot 1 as shown on a plan deposited in the Land Registry Office at Auckland under No. 34026, being part Allotment 1, Parish of Whangarei.

Vesting the Control of Lake Rotoiti Scenic Reserves in a Scenic Board

Pursuant to sections 18, 19, and 20 of the Maori Purposes 1931, and section 13 of the Scenery Preservation Act 1908, His Excellency the Governor-General hereby vests the control of the reserves described in the Schedule hereto (being land subject to the last-mentioned Act) for the period of five years from the date hereof (unless previously altered or revoked under that Act) in the undermentioned persons, namely,—
The Commissioner of Crown Lands for the South Auckland Land District, ex officio, The District Manager, Tourist Bureau, Rotorua, ex officio, Bertram Kingi, Te Mapu o Te Rangi Morehu, Whakarongotai Rogers, Rotarangihoro Taiatini, and Marukore Hohepa te Wao who are hereby constituted for that purpose a special Board by the name of the Lake Rotoiti Scenic Board (hereinafter referred to as the Board), in trust for the preservation of scenery, and with the powers and subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say:—
- The first meeting of the Board shall be held on Saturday the 16th day of May 1953, in the Haumaitawhiti Meetinghouse, Otaramarae, and thereafter the Board shall meet for the transaction of business at such time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board.
- The Chairman shall have an original as well as a casting vote, and shall hold office until the election of his successor.
- Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman, provided that two days’ notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting; and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.
- Any four members of the Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.
- All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at the meeting.
- If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose one of their number to be Chairman of such meeting.
- If by resignation, death, incapacity, or otherwise, the seat of any member shall be or become vacant, or if any member absents himself, without reasonable cause, from three consecutive meetings of the Board, the Governor-General shall have power to appoint any other person to be a member of the Board in his stead.
- The Board shall prepare and submit at an annual meeting to be held in the month of April in each year a report of the proceedings of the Board for the previous year ending on the 31st day of March, together with a statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Board for such year. A copy of every such report and statement, certified by the Chairman to be correct, shall be sent to the Minister charged with the administration of the Scenery Preservation Act 1908, as soon as possible after each annual meeting.
- The Board shall control the said reserves in accordance with the provisions of the Scenery Preservation Act 1908, and of the regulations made thereunder.

(a) Lake Rotoiti Scenic Reserves, as described in the Schedule to the Warrant published in Gazette of 1928, page 1090.
(b) Hongi’s Track Reserves, as described in the Schedule to the Warrant published in Gazette of 1928, page 2928.
(c) Waione Block Reserves, as described in the Schedule to the Proclamation published in Gazette of 1931, page 1685.
