Pursuant to the Medical Research Council Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the recommendation of the Minister of Health, has been pleased to re-appoint—

Philip Patrick Lynch, B.Sc., M.D. (N.Z.), F.R.A.C.P., being a person nominated by the New Zealand Branch of the British Medical Association; and Frederick Horace Smirk, M.D. (Manch.), F.R.C.P. (Lond.), F.R.A.C.P., being a person nominated by the New Zealand Committee of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians

to be members of the Medical Research Council under the Medical Research Council Act 1950.

Plant Declared a Noxious Weed in the Waiapu County (Notice No. Ag. 5419)

Pursuant to the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, the Minister of Agriculture hereby publishes the following special order made by the Waiapu County Council on the 22nd day of April 1953.

SPECIAL ORDER

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by section 3 of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, the Waiapu County Council hereby resolves by way of special order that the plant mentioned in the Schedule hereto (being a plant added to the First Schedule of the said Act by the Noxious Weeds Act Extension Order 1952) be declared a noxious weed within the whole of the County of Waiapu.

SCHEDULE

Montpelier Broom (Cytisus Monspessulanus).

The Import Control Exemption (No. 2) 1953

Pursuant to regulation 15 of the Import Control Regulations 1938*, the Minister of Customs hereby gives notice as follows:—

  1. (1) This notice may be cited as the Import Control Exemption Notice (No. 2) 1953.
    (2) This notice shall come into force on the 8th day of May 1953.

  2. Goods of the classes specified in the First Schedule hereto, imported from and being the produce or manufacture of any country other than the countries specified in the Second Schedule hereto, are hereby exempted from the requirement of a licence under the said regulations.

FIRST SCHEDULE

Tariff Item No. Classes of Goods.
Ex 389 (a) Motor vehicles unassembled or completely knocked down, viz.—chassis for commercial vehicles (other than omnibuses) having a gross weight of vehicle and load exceeding 20,000 lb. at overseas manufacturers' rating.
